Question

A merchant sells 60 metre of cloth and gains selling price of 15 metre. Find the gain percent (rounded off to 1 decimal place).

A.

33.7%

B.

36.7%

C.

37.3%

D.

33.3%

Correct option is D

Given:

Cloth sold = 60 metres

Gain = Selling price of 15 metres

Formula Used:

Gain % = (GainCost Price)×100\left( \frac{\text{Gain}}{\text{Cost Price}} \right) \times 100

Solution:

Let the selling price per metre be ₹1

Then,

Selling Price of 60 m = ₹60

Gain = ₹15

Cost Price = ₹60 − ₹15 = ₹45

Gain % = (1545)×100=33.3% \left( \frac{15}{45} \right) \times 100 = 33.3\%
