    Question

    A cylinder has a height of 14 cm and a curved surface area of 660 cm2cm^2, then the volume of the cylinder is:

    A.

    2425 cm3cm^3

    B.

    2475 cm3cm^3

    C.

    2225 cm3cm^3

    D.

    2275 cm3cm^3

    Correct option is B

    Given:

    Height (h) = 14 cm

    Curved Surface Area (CSA) = 660 cm²

    Formula Used:

    Curved Surface Area (CSA) of a cylinder = 2πrh

    Volume of a cylinder  = πr²h

    Where:

    r = radius of the base

    h = height of the cylinder

    Solution:

    Now,

    CSA = 2 πrh

    660 = 2 ×\times π ××\times 14

    r = 6602×π×14\frac{660}{2 × π × 14}     (π=227\frac{22}{7})

    r ≈ 7.5 cm

    Using the formula for the volume:

    Volume =  π r²h

    = π(7.5)2 ×14\times 14 ≈ 2475 cm³

    Thus, option (B) is right.
