Preliminary Exam
The Prelims is a screening test consisting of three sections:

- Each question carries 1 mark, and 0.25 marks are deducted for wrong answers.
- Sectional cut-off and overall cut-off apply.
- Candidates must clear the Prelims to qualify for the Mains exam.
Mains Exam
The Mains exam is more comprehensive and includes a Descriptive Test.

Key Points:
- Descriptive Test is evaluated only if candidates qualify in the objective test.

- Higher weightage is given to Mains scores in final selection.
Interview
- Candidates clearing the Mains are called for a Personal Interview, which carries 100 marks.
- Minimum qualifying marks – 40% for General and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates.
- The final selection is based on a combined score of Mains (80%) + Interview (20%).
Final Selection
Candidates are selected based on their Mains + Interview scores and ranked in the final merit list. After selection, they undergo training and probation before becoming a full-fledged Probationary Officer.
