The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) exam follows a three-stage selection process for the State Services Examination (SSE):
Preliminary Examination
The prelims consist of two objective-type papers (MCQs):
Paper 1: General Studies (200 marks, 2 hours)
Paper 2: General Aptitude Test (200 marks, 2 hours)
Both papers consist of multiple-choice questions. Paper 2 is qualifying in nature, and candidates must score at least 33% marks. The marks from Paper 1 are used for merit in the prelims to shortlist candidates for the main exam.
Main Examination
The MPPSC mains exam is descriptive in nature and consists of six papers:
Paper 1: General Studies I (300 marks, 3 hours)
Paper 2: General Studies II (300 marks, 3 hours)
Paper 3: General Studies III (300 marks, 3 hours)
Paper 4: General Studies IV (300 marks, 3 hours)
Paper 5: General Hindi (200 marks, 3 hours)
Paper 6: Hindi Essay (100 marks, 2 hours)
The total for the mains exam is 1500 marks.
Personality Test (Interview)
The interview carries 185 marks.
It assesses the candidate’s personality, communication skills, leadership abilities, and suitability for administrative roles.
Final Selection: The merit list is prepared based on the combined marks from the mains (1400 marks) and the interview (175 marks), making a total of 1585 marks.
