The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced 7,948 vacancies for the posts of Multi-Tasking Staff (Non-Technical) and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN). These are Group ‘C’ non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts offered in various Central Government departments.
SSC is set to conduct a Computer-Based Examination (CBE) to shortlist candidates from the large number of applicants. As per the official schedule, the SSC MTS 2026 examination will be conducted from 4th February 2026 onwards. Candidates will be able to book their exam slot starting from 15th January 2026.

The MTS category consists of posts such as Peon, Daftary, Jamadar, Junior Gestetner Operator, Chowkidar, Safaiwala, Mali, etc. in various Constitutional Bodies/ Statutory Bodies/ Tribunals, etc., in different States/ Union Territories. Only 10th pass candidates are eligible for this post, and after selection, the starting salary ranges from 18,000 to Rs. 22,000/-. The selection process includes Computer-Based Test (Paper 1), Physical Test (PET/PST) (only for Havaldar post), and Document Verification. There is no interview stage for either post. The SSC MTS Eligibility includes age limit, educational qualification, and nationality. For the Havaldar post, a Physical Test will also be conducted.
Ex-Servicemen (ESM) are eligible for SSC MTS. However, those already employed in a regular Group ‘C’ or ‘D’ government position through the ESM quota cannot claim this benefit again unless they had applied for SSC MTS before joining and submitted a self-declaration. Candidates set to complete their service within one year from the application closing date can also apply, provided they submit valid proof confirming their status.
There are two stages for the multitasking staff post and 3 stages for the Havaldar post. The exam will be conducted online in a computer-based manner. Physical Tests will only be conducted for the Havaldar post only. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained by candidates in the computer-based test.

The SSC MTS 2026 application is now closed on the official SSC website. Candidates must complete the registration process online, providing accurate personal, academic, and contact details. Application fees can be paid through online modes or a challan. Ensure all required documents, such as photographs and signatures, are uploaded correctly.
