SSC MTS 2026 Exam Date OUT, Paper 1 Scheduled from 4th February Onwards
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced 7,948 vacancies for the posts of Multi-Tasking Staff (Non-Technical) and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN). These are Group ‘C’ non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts offered in various Central Government departments.
SSC is set to conduct a Computer-Based Examination (CBE) to shortlist candidates from the large number of applicants. As per the official schedule, the SSC MTS 2026 examination will be conducted from 4th February 2026 onwards. Candidates will be able to book their exam slot starting from 15th January 2026.

SSC MTS Exam Date 2026 Out
The SSC MTS 2026 Paper 1 will be held from 4th February 2026 onwards. Candidates preparing for the Multi‑Tasking Staff (Non‑Technical) and Havaldar posts should plan their preparation accordingly. The admit card for Paper 1 will be issued 4 days before the exam, and all aspirants are advised to regularly check the official SSC website for confirmed dates and notifications to avoid missing any important updates.

The MTS category consists of posts such as Peon, Daftary, Jamadar, Junior Gestetner Operator, Chowkidar, Safaiwala, Mali, etc. in various Constitutional Bodies/ Statutory Bodies/ Tribunals, etc., in different States/ Union Territories. Only 10th pass candidates are eligible for this post, and after selection, the starting salary ranges from 18,000 to Rs. 22,000/-. The selection process includes Computer-Based Test (Paper 1), Physical Test (PET/PST) (only for Havaldar post), and Document Verification. There is no interview stage for either post. SSC MTS 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The SSC MTS Eligibility includes age limit, educational qualification, and nationality. For the Havaldar post, a Physical Test will also be conducted.
Nationality
An Indian citizen, or
A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, intending to settle permanently, or
A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, or East African countries, intending to settle permanently.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) or its equivalent from a recognized board or institution by the closing date of application.
Age Limit
18-25 years: For Multitasking Staff (Non-Technical)
18-27 years: Havaldar in CBIC and CBN (D/O Revenue), and few posts of MTS.
Age Relaxation: Applicable as per government rules for reserved categories:
SC/ST: 5 years
OBC: 3 years
PwD: 10 years (general), 13 years (OBC), 15 years (SC/ST)
Are ex-servicemen Eligible for SSC MTS 2026?
Ex-Servicemen (ESM) are eligible for SSC MTS. However, those already employed in a regular Group ‘C’ or ‘D’ government position through the ESM quota cannot claim this benefit again unless they had applied for SSC MTS before joining and submitted a self-declaration. Candidates set to complete their service within one year from the application closing date can also apply, provided they submit valid proof confirming their status.
SSC MTS 2026 Selection Process
There are two stages for the multitasking staff post and 3 stages for the Havaldar post. The exam will be conducted online in a computer-based manner. Physical Tests will only be conducted for the Havaldar post only. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained by candidates in the computer-based test.

Objective test assessing General Intelligence, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, English, and General Awareness.
Stage 2: PET/PST
Physical Efficiency Test/Physical Standard Test for Havaldar posts, including tasks like walking and cycling.
Stage 3: Document Verification
Candidates must provide original documents for eligibility verification.
SSC MTS 2026 Exam Pattern
The total marks for the SSC MTS Paper-I exam are 270, as per the latest pattern.
The exam will be objective type (Multiple Choice Questions).
Language options:
Session I and the General Awareness section of Session II will be available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages.
Negative marking:
Session I: No negative marking.
Session II: 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Extra time for special candidates:
Visually handicapped and cerebral palsy candidates will get 45 minutes per session.

SSC MTS 2026 Application Form
The SSC MTS 2026 application is now closed on the official SSC website. Candidates must complete the registration process online, providing accurate personal, academic, and contact details. Application fees can be paid through online modes or a challan. Ensure all required documents, such as photographs and signatures, are uploaded correctly.

The fee can be paid online only using BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay).
The application fee is Rs. 100 for General/OBC/EWS candidates.
No fee is required for women candidates, SC/ST candidates, PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities), and Ex-servicemen .
