SSC MTS 2020: Exam Date, Notification, Eligibility Criteria

SSC MTS 2020 Notification: The Staff Service Commission is the responsible body for conduction the Multi Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff (MTS) Exam. It is also known as SSC MTS Exam. SSC MTS Exam is conducted to recruit candidates in the General Central Service Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post in various Ministries/
Departments/ Offices of the Government of India, in different States/Union Territories.

Going by the SSC Exam Calendar, the SSC MTS 2020 registration will be done from June 2 to July 15, 2020.

SSC MTS 2020 Notification

Every year lakhs of candidates appear for the SSC MTS Exam. In 2019, approximately 38 lakh candidates had appeared for the Exam. Tentative vacancies for MTS Exam 2020 are 7000. The best part of the MTS Exam is its eligibility criteria which is Matriculation pass or equivalent. Like the other govt exams, where the selection process is a two-stage process, MTS Exam is also no different. It involves the following two stages:

  1. Paper 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Paper 2: Descriptive Test

SSC MTS 2020 Notification will be released on June 2nd for which the registration begin from June 2 to July 15, 2020SSC MTS 2020 Paper 1 will be conducted between October 26 to November 13, 2020 (tentative). SSC MTS 2020 Eligibility Criteria

A candidate is required to be

Age Limit

A candidate must be of minimum 18 years of age and must not exceed 25 years of age as on 01.08.2018. Apart from the mentioned Age Requirement, candidates belonging to reserved categories are given age relaxation as per Government Rules.

Educational Qualification

  1. The candidates must have passed matriculation (10th Pass) or equivalent examination from a recognized board as on August 1, 2020. 
  2. In case a candidate does not pass the qualifying examination before the closing date of receipt of the application form, he or she is not permitted to apply.

SSC MTS Selection Process

The SSC MTS Selection Process is a two stage procedure.

  1. SSC MTS Paper I: Written Test
  2. SSC MTS Paper II: Descriptive Test

Paper-1 is an online exam which is objective multiple choice question type.
Paper-2 is a pen and paper mode of examination which includes writing a short essay or letter in English or
any language in included in the VIII Schedule of the Constitution.

How To Score Good Marks In Letter Writing

Paper-II will only be of qualifying nature and is intended to test elementary language skills. Paper-II will be held only for those candidates who meet the cut-off prescribed by the Commission in Paper-I for different categories.

Paper II is only qualifying in nature. However, marks scored by the candidates in Paper-II will be used to decide merit in case more than one candidate score equal normalized marks in Paper-I.

SSC MTS 2020 Exam Pattern

The paper pattern for SSC MTS saw a change in the previous year session of the exam.

  • The exam consists of two papers i.e. Paper I & Paper 2.
  • Paper 1 is conducted online while Paper 2 is pen and paper based.

SSC MTS Exam Pattern For Paper I

  • SSC MTS Paper I will have four sections.
  • The duration of SSC MTS Exam will be 90 minutes for General Candidates and 120 minutes for PwD Candidates.
  • ThePaper I is an objective type paper with four MCQ’s out of which one will be correct.
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.
  • No marks will be deducted for incorrect or unattempted question.

SSC MTS Exam Pattern For Paper II

SSC MTS Paper-II will be held only for those candidates who meet the cut-off prescribed by the Commission in Paper-I for different categories.

  • SSC MTS Paper II will be pen and paper mode paper which will be descriptive in nature.
  • The Paper will be set in Hindi, English and in other languages mentioned in the VIIIth Schedule of the Constitution.
  • The maximum marks is 50 marks.
  • The duration of SSC MTS Paper II is 30 minutes for General Category and 40 minutes for PwD Category of candidates.

SSC MTS Syllabus For Paper 2

SSC MTS Paper 2 is intended to test elementary language skills in view of categorization of the post as Group-C and in view of job requirements.

After the release of the SSC MTS Answer Key, SSC MTS Result is released. The Result is released in the PDF Form. The candidates whose roll numbers are in the list will be called for the 2nd paper. A Cut-off is released by the Commission. The candidates will have to secure the cut-off set by the Commission.

The SSC Multi-Tasking Staff is a general central service group ‘C’ non-gazetted, a non-ministerial post that falls under Pay band-1 (Rs.5200 – 20200) + Grade Pay Rs.1800. SSC MTS salary comes to be around Rs.18000- Rs.22000.

  • SSC MTS Salary Structure is based on the effect of 7th Pay Commission on the central government departments.
  • 7th Pay Commission has impacted the salary structure is somewhat a positive way. The in-hand salary is around INR 20, 000 per month.
  • The salary structure comprises of many aspects such as basic pay, DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rental Allowance), TA (Traveling Allowance) and dearness allowance on travelling allowance etc.
