About SSC MTS Exam
The SSC MTS Exam is an annual exam conducting at national level and MTS stands for Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) post in various Central Govt Ministries/Departments. This exam for two posts Multitasking Staff (Non-Technical) and Havaldar and it is ideal for candidates who passed school till 10th class and within the age limit of 18 to 27 years. The selection process involves a Computer Based Test (Paper 1), Physical Test (PET/PST for Havaldar pot), and Document Verification. Upon selection candidates are posted across depatrments/offices/ministries of Central Government.

The SSC MTS & Havaldar Vacancy 2025 notification has been officially released. As per the notice, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced 1,075 vacancies for the Havaldar post in CBIC and CBN departments. However, the vacancy details for the Multitasking Staff (MTS) post are yet to be released and are currently under finalization. SSC MTS 2025 Application fee
The fee can be paid online only using BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay).
- The application fee is Rs. 100 for General/OBC/EWS candidates.
- No fee is required for women candidates, SC/ST candidates, PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities), and Ex-servicemen .
- The last date to pay the fee online is 25th July 2025, till 11:00 PM.
SSC MTS 2025 Eligibility Criteria
The SSC MTS Eligibility criteria includes age limit, educational qualification, and nationality. For Havaldar post, Physical Test will also be conducted.
Nationality
- An Indian citizen, or
- A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, intending to settle permanently, or
- A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, or East African countries, intending to settle permanently.
Educational Qualification (As on 1/8/2025)
- Candidates must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) or its equivalent from a recognized board or institution by the closing date of application.
Age Limit (As on 1/8/2025)
- 18-25 years: MTS and Havaldar in CBN
- 18-27 years: Havaldar in CBIC
- Age Relaxation: Applicable as per government rules for reserved categories:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwD: 10 years (general), 13 years (OBC), 15 years (SC/ST)
SSC MTS 2025 Selection Process
There are two stages for the multitasking staff post and 3 stages for Havaldar post. The exam will be conducted online in a computer based manner. Physical Test will only be conducted for the Havaldar post only. Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the computer based test.

SSC MTS 2025 Exam Pattern
- The total marks for the SSC MTS Paper-I exam are 270, as per the latest pattern.
- The exam will be objective type (Multiple Choice Questions).
- Language options:
- Session I and the General Awareness section of Session II will be available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages.
- Negative marking:
- Session I: No negative marking.
- Session II: 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Extra time for special candidates:
- Visually handicapped and cerebral palsy candidates will get 45 minutes per session.

The SSC MTS Salary 2025 falls under Pay Band-1 (Rs. 5200–20200) with a Grade Pay of Rs. 1800, which corresponds to Level-1 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix. The in-hand salary for SSC MTS employees ranges between Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 22,000 per month, depending on the location and applicable allowances. This salary structure includes benefits like House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), and other government perks, making it a stable and attractive entry-level job in the central government sector.
