2.”Tamil Nadu Government Collaborates with GCPL to Establish Manufacturing Unit, Focusing on Inclusivity and Economic Growth”

• Tamil Nadu government signed an MOU with Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) on August 10, 2023, to establish a manufacturing unit in Chengalpattu district.
• The new manufacturing unit, to be located near Thiruporur, will require an investment of ₹515 crore and is anticipated to generate over 400 job opportunities.
• GCPL’s Executive Chairperson, Nisaba Godrej, highlighted their commitment to an inclusive workforce, with plans to employ 50% women, 5% LGBTQ individuals, and people with disabilities (PWD) at the facility.
• This move aligns with the Tamil Nadu government’s strategy to promote FMCG manufacturing within the state, as expressed by Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa.

3.”Archaeological Exploration Unveils Intriguing Circular Brick Structure at Sangam-age Site in Pudukottai District”

• Archaeologists have discovered a partial circular brick structure at the Sangam-age site of Porpanaikottai in Pudukottai district.
• The structure was found adjacent to a three-course brick structure uncovered in the Al trench during excavations by the Archaeology Department starting from May 20.
• The newly unearthed brick structure, located at a depth of 3.8 centimeters in the Zal trench, has a diameter of 230 centimeters. It revealed sections of water channels constructed with bricks, and another adjacent trench (Za2) revealed additional brick structures, one measuring 200 centimeters in length.
• The purpose and nature of these structures remain to be fully determined, requiring further excavation and study.
• In addition to the structural discoveries, the excavation yielded over 355 artifacts, including notable items such as a gold nose stud, hopscotch, spouts, glass bangle fragments, green stone heads, a terracotta lamp, a coin, a spindle whorl, and a rubbing stone.
