Daily English Vocabulary – 28 March 2023, Synonyms and Antonyms for Stronger Vocabulary

1.  Initiated (verb): துவக்கப்பட்டது
a small group of people who share obscure knowledge

Antonyms – Block, Finish, Expel, Complete

2. Ensure (verb): உறுதி
make certain that (something) will occur or be the case

Synonyms –  Assure, Secure, Establish, Protect

Antonyms – Endanger, Injure, Contradict, Harm

3. Development (noun): வளர்ச்சி
an event constituting a new stage in a changing situation

Synonyms –   Advancement, Augmentation, Maturity, Evolution, Expansion

Antonyms –  Decline, Retreat, Decrease, Reduction

4. Expectation (noun): எதிர்பார்ப்பு

a strong belief that something will happen or be the case

Synonyms – Assumption, Chance, Promise, Intention, Confidence

Antonyms – Disbelief, Distrust, Hopelessness, Impossibility

5. Suspicion (noun): சந்தேகம்

a feeling or thought that something is possible, likely, or true

Synonyms –   Conjecture, Mistrust, Cynicism, Uncertainty

Antonyms – Belief, Faith, Certainty, Sureness

6. Consider (verb): கருத்தில் கொள்ளுங்கள்

think carefully about (something), typically before making a decision

Synonyms – Acknowledge, Contemplate, Examine, Scrutinize

Antonyms – Disregard, Forget, Neglect, ignore

7. Criticised (verb): விமர்சிக்கப்பட்டது

indicate the faults of (someone or something) in a disapproving way

Synonyms –   Abstracted, Analyzed, Considered, Investigated

Antonyms – Approved, Praise

8. Dispensation (noun): விநியோகம்

a political, religious, or social system prevailing at a particular time

Synonyms – Disbursement, Bestowal, Allotment, Conferment

Antonyms – Disfavor, Whole, Denial

9. Perception (noun): உணர்தல்

the way in which something is regarded, understood, or interpreted

Synonyms – Approach, Impression, Attention, Judgement

Antonyms – Concrete, Stupidity, Unconsciousness, Misunderstanding

10. Subsidy (noun): மானியம்

a sum of money granted by the state or a public body to help an industry or business keep the price of a commodity or service low

Synonyms – Aid, Endowment, Allowances, Financial Aid

Antonyms – Forfeit, Hindrance, Injury

10. Conspiracy (noun): சதி

a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful

Synonyms – Plot, Connivance, Sedition, Treason

Antonyms – Faithfulness, Honesty, Loyalty

11. Hatched (verb): அரசியல் காழ்ப்புணர்ச்சி

conspire to devise (a plot or plan)

12. Divert (verb): திசை திருப்பவும்

cause (someone or something) to change course or turn from one direction to another

Synonyms – Alter, Redirect, Change, Switch

Antonyms – Stay, Straighten, Maintain

13. Breached (verb): மீறப்படுகின்றன

make a gap in and break through (a wall, barrier, or defence)

14. Corruption (noun): ஊழல்

dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery

15. Restricting (verb): கட்டுப்படுத்துதல்

put a limit on; keep under control

16. Scrutiny (noun): கண்காணிப்பின்

critical observation or examination

17. Purportedly (adv): உள்நோக்குடன்

as appears or is stated to be true, though not necessarily so; allegedly

18. Violation (noun): மீறல்

break or fail to comply with (a rule or formal agreement)

Synonyms – Crime, Offence, Sin, Felony

Antonyms – Morality, Virtue, Innocence
