NEET PG 2023 Postponement
Two petitions for the postponement of the NEET-PG 2023 exam, slated for March 5, 2023, will be heard by the Supreme Court today. The National Board of Examinations’ response to the plea was requested by the Court last Friday.
NEET PG 2023 Postpone or Not?
The petitioners, who are doctors attempting to register for NEET-PG, noted that when the NBE initially released the notification for NEET-PG 2023 on January 7, 2023, it established the cut-off date for internship completion as March 31, 2023. The deadline was later extended to June 30 on January 13. The deadline was once more extended on February 7 to August 11, 2023. The petitioners claim that even though the deadline has been extended, the newly eligible applicants do not have enough time to study because the tests will still be held on the originally scheduled date.

As a result, the petitioners ask for a three-month delay in the NEET-PG exam because counselling cannot begin before August 11, 2023. According to the petitioners, the National Board of Examination issued the notice without first consulting any of the State Medical Councils regarding one of the most crucial eligibility requirements. It is suggested that the fact that NBE changed the eligibility requirements twice demonstrates inadequate oversight and poor management in failing to communicate with the state medical boards in advance and denying candidates the opportunity to prepare.

Since that over 2 lakh candidates have already registered for NEET-PG 2023, the bench said during the hearing on Friday that postponing the exam will be difficult for many students. The judgement further noted that the petitioners were only made eligible by the NBE’s waiver because they were otherwise ineligible to take the exam on March 5, 2023. The bench questioned if the petitioners may now attempt to postpone the tests. The bench today posted the matter after asking for the NBE’s response.

NEET PG 2023 Postponement New Exam Date
The NEET PG test is scheduled on March 5. The NEET PG 2023 exam will be computer-based, and applicants will have three hours and thirty minutes to complete 200 multiple-choice questions. According to the NEET PG 2023 marking methodology, each accurate response will receive four points, while each incorrect response will receive one point less.
