The common university entrance test for undergraduate admissions CUET UG 2023 in Manipur and Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has been postponed, and will now take place on May 29 and May 26, respectively, according to an announcement made by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday. Due to the current unrest between ethnic groups in the northeastern state of Manipur, the state authorities recommended that the exams be postponed. The NTA has rescheduled the exam in J&K so that temporary testing centers can be set up there, making it easier for students to take the test conveniently. The CUET-UG 2023 for additional states will take place between May 21, 2023, and June 6, 2023, as scheduled. The decision was made due to a conflict between ethnic groups in Manipur and a shortage of testing centers in Jammu and Kashmir.

CUET UG 2023 Postponed
The National Testing Agency (NTA) reaffirmed in a statement that the CUET-UG exams will go forward as planned in the remaining regions of the nation in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020. There will be two phases to the computer-based CUET UG 2023 administration. The first phase will occur between May 21 and June 6, 2023, and the second phase will occur between June 15 and June 24, 2023. The exam will be given in a variety of languages, including Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. However, in Manipur, the CUET -UG 2023 will be held from May 29 2023, and in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), from May 26, 2023.
CUET UG 2023 Postponed in Manipur and J&K- Reasons
Due to the current unrest between ethnic groups in the northeastern state of Manipur, the state authorities recommended that the exams be postponed. The agency issued a statement saying, “After contacting the state (Manipur) administration, it has been advised to keep all examinations in the state of Manipur from 29 May 2023 onwards.”Together with the state administration, the National Testing Agency (NTA) thoroughly evaluated the current level of law and order. As a result, the NTA telephoned the concerned candidates to find out which city they would prefer to take the future exam in. Alternative cities like Delhi and Guwahati have been assigned to applicants who are not currently in Manipur or who desire to sit the exam in another state or city. It is significant to highlight that Manipur candidates still have the choice, if they so want, to switch exam locations. In light of the current situation, the NTA has taken these steps to assure the security and comfort of all applicants.

The NTA has rescheduled the exam in J&K so that temporary testing centers can be set up there, making it easier for students to take the test conveniently.This year, 87,309 students from J&K have applied, which is more than six times the 13, 021 applicants from the previous year. Kumar claims that the administration of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is actively cooperating in the creation of new testing locations. The state of J&K wants to be able to house as many students as possible. Additionally, attempts are being made to transfer Delhi students who were originally allotted exam centres in Meerut to the National Capital Region (NCR) region for their convenience. These actions demonstrate the authorities’ dedication to ensuring a simple and accessible examination process for all applicants.
