IB Security Assistant Job Profile & Career Growth
Selected candidates will be deployed in subsidiary intelligence units across the country and will work on critical assignments involving:
Ground-level intelligence gathering Surveillance operations Maintaining internal security Assisting in field operations in coordination with other intelligence and law enforcement agencies
Over time, with departmental promotions and internal exams, Security Assistants can be promoted to higher ranks within the Intelligence Bureau.

Descriptive for Tier-2
Exam Pattern
The selection process consists of three tiers:
Tier-I (Online Exam): Objective type MCQs divided into 5 parts: General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Numerical/Analytical/Logical ability and Reasoning, English Language, and General Studies. 100 marks, 1-hour duration. Negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer. Minimum cut-off marks: UR-30, OBC-28, SC/ST-25, EWS-30.
Tier-II (Written Exam): Descriptive type, involving translation of a 500-word passage from a local language/dialect to English and vice versa. 50 marks, 1-hour duration. Qualifying in nature, with qualifying marks of 20 out of 50.
Tier-III (Interview/Personality Test): 50 marks For eligibility, candidates must have passed the 10th class or equivalent, possess a domicile certificate for the chosen State, and demonstrate knowledge of a local language or dialect. The age limit is 18-27 years as of August 17, 2025, with relaxations available for SC/ST, OBC, departmental candidates, certain categories of women, and ex-servicemen. The application fee is Rs. 650 for male candidates belonging to General, EWS, and OBC categories, while SC/ST candidates, female candidates, and eligible Ex-Servicemen are required to pay Rs. 550.
