The selection process shall be as follows:
- Phase I - On-line Preliminary Examination (Objective Type). This is a qualifying examination to be eligible for Phase II - Descriptive Examination. Through this, candidates for Actuarial, Finance, Law, IT, Research streams and Generalist stream shall be shortlisted for Phase II - Descriptive Examination as per standards to be decided by IRDAI (approximately 20 times the number of vacancies subject to availability).
Marks secured in the Phase I - On-line Preliminary Examination will not count for interview or final selection. - Phase II - Descriptive Examination comprising 3 Papers (Paper I, II and III).
- Phase III - Interview
Selection Process -
- Phase I – Preliminary Exam (Objective)
You must clear each section and the overall cut-off.
Language: English & Hindi (except English Language test).
Negative Marking: 1/4th mark cut for every wrong answer.
Score Calculation:
Correct answers minus penalties
Scores are adjusted (if the exam is in multiple sessions).
Final scores are rounded up to 2 decimal places. - Phase II – Descriptive Exam
Three Papers:
English
Economics & Social Issues
Insurance & Management
Each paper: 60 minutes, 100 marks
Mode: Questions on screen, answers written on paper
Call letter and exam schedule will be given separately. - Phase III – Interview
Only for those who qualify Phase II.
Salary Details -
Basic Pay: ₹44,500 per month
Pay Scale Progression: Up to ₹89,150 over 17 years
Total Monthly Salary: Around ₹1,46,000 (excluding some allowances)
Includes other benefits like HRA, DA, Grade Pay, etc.
NPS (New Pension Scheme) applicable
