Eligiblity

• Candidates appearing for the RBI Grade B DEPR examination must meet the following criteria:

Age Limit:

• Candidates must be between 21-30 years old as of January 1 of the application year.
• Age relaxation is provided for reserved category candidates according to Government of India norms.
• The age limit is 32 years for candidates with an M.Phil degree and 34 years for those with a Ph.D. degree.

Educational Qualification:

• For criteria (A) and (C), candidates must have a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years from a recognized Indian or foreign university/institute.
• For SC, ST, and PwBD candidates, the minimum required marks for a Master’s degree for criteria (A), (B), and (C) is above 50%.
• Principal Constituent” means that half or more of the total courses/electives/credits must be in Economics or Finance.
• Specialization” in Economics/Finance means that a third or more of the total courses/electives/credits in the second year must be in Economics/Finance.

Age Relaxation:

• Candidates with an M.Phil or Doctorate degree from a recognized Indian or foreign university/institute in Economics will have an age relaxation of 2 and 4 years, respectively.
• Candidates with a Master’s degree and research/teaching experience in Economics at a recognized Indian or foreign university/institute are eligible for age relaxation equivalent to the number of years of such experience, up to a maximum of three years. The probationary period will not be considered.
• The aforementioned age relaxation will not be cumulative with other age relaxations.

Attempts and Exam Pattern:

• General category candidates are allowed six attempts for the RBI Grade B DEPR Phase I examination. There is no limit for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS candidates.
• The RBI Grade B DEPR exam has a penalty of 1/4th negative marks for each wrong answer in the objective type paper.
