CS J Exam Pattern consists of Prelims, Mains, and Interview stages. The PCS J Exam for Prelims exam consists of two papers, General Knowledge and Law Paper. On the other hand, there PCS J Mains exam has a total of 6 papers and each paper can be answered in both English and Hindi Languages.
The PCS J Prelims exam has GK and Law papers. As per the new PCS J exam pattern, there is a change in the Mains paper pattern. The Mains exam shall have a total of 6 papers. The 1st paper is the GK paper while the 2nd and 3rd papers are English Language and Hindi Language papers respectively. The 4th, 5th, and 6th papers are the law papers. PCS J Prelims Exam Pattern
The PCS J prelims exam is the first stage of the PCS Judiciary exam. There are two papers i.e., Paper I and Paper II. PCS J Paper I is of General Knowledge and will be conducted for 150 marks. Paper II is a Law exam for 300 marks. The time duration for both papers is 2 hours each. All the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions.
The total mark for the PCS J Prelims exam is 450.
There are 2 papers viz., General Knowledge & Law.
Each paper is 2 hours.
There is a negative marking of 0.33 mark in the PCS Judiciary prelims exam.

PCS J Mains Exam Pattern
Those who qualify for the PCS Judiciary prelims exam are called for the mains exam. The mains exam is the merit-deciding round. The total marks of the PCS J mains exam is 1000 marks. There are 6 papers in it. Before 2022, there used to be 5 papers where a single language paper used to be conducted. All the papers shall be descriptive in nature. The candidates will have a choice to answer General Knowledge and Law papers either in Hindi or in English.

PCS J Interview:
The candidates who will qualify for the PCS J Mains exam shall be called to appear for the Interview which is for 100 Marks. The main aim of the UP Judiciary interview is to check the suitability of the candidates for the post of Civil Judge. The candidate's suitability will be tested concerning his/her merit about his character, personality, and physique.
