UPSC Mains 2021: General Studies Paper-3

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Civil Services exam each year in three phases- Prelims, Mains and Interview. GS Paper-3 in UPSC Mains Examination consists of 250 marks (out of 1750). Syllabus of UPSC Mains GS Paper-3 consists of subjects like Economy, Agriculture, Science & Technology, Environment & associated issues, Disaster Management and Security Challenges. Candidates having a good understanding of the static part of the syllabus are comfortable with the GS Paper-3 and score good marks in the UPSC Mains GS Paper-3 Exam.

GS Paper-3 of UPSC Mains 2021 exam was conducted on 09th January 2022 in the first shift (09-12 AM). Below, we are providing the whole GS Paper-3 question paper in text form and in image form as well.

GS Paper 3 UPSC 2021 (Mains)- Indian Economy

Conceptual questions were asked from this section in the GS Paper 3 of the UPSC Mains 2021 exam. Candidates having a good understanding of various economic concepts would be writing good answers from this section. Though there were only two questions from this section, they were interested in nature. For example, questions on research and developmental achievements in applied biotechnology and Nobel Prize in physics were asked in the GS Paper 3 of the UPSC Mains 2021. Candidates having a specific understanding of key concepts in question would be able to write good answers.

 

GS Paper 3 UPSC 2021 (Mains)- Environment & Associated issues

Questions from this section were on expected lines and dominated by current developments in the field. For example, questions on the Green Greed Initiative, COP 26 of UNFCCC, and Global Air Quality Guidelines were asked in the GS Paper 3 of the UPSC Mains 2021. Candidates having a good understanding of the current happenings in the environment field would comfortably be able to write good answers.

 

 

GS Paper 3 UPSC 2021 (Mains)- Disaster Management

In this section, questions from the traditional topics such as earthquakes and Landslide were asked in the GS Paper 3 of the UPSC Mains 2021. Candidates having conceptual clarity and a comprehensive understanding of the key topics would be able to comfortably attempt these questions in the UPSC Mains exam.

 

 

GS Paper 3 UPSC 2021 (Mains)- Internal Security and Challenges

The number of questions from this section was more in number this year in comparison to their general weightage in the UPSC Mains GS Paper 3. Questions on Money Laundering, challenges posed by state and non-state actors to India’s internal security, Terrorism, Cross-border cyberattacks, etc. were asked in the GS Paper 3 of the UPSC Mains Exam 2021. Candidates having a proper understanding of various dimensions of India’s internal security would have been attempted these questions comfortably.
