- Recently, the Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the new, state of the art complex of Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM) in Silchar.

- The newly opened institute is the first such center in the Northeast on Unani medicine- a traditional medicinal practice among the Ayush systems.
- The new complex spread over an area of 3.5 acres is built with an investment of ₹48 crores.
- The complex was developed by the National Projects Construction Corporation (NPCC) – a Govt of India enterprise.
- It was handed over to Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Ayush, Govt of India.
About Regional Research Centre (Unani)
- Regional Research Centre (Unani), Silchar was established by the Council at S. M. Dev Civil Hospital, Silchar, Cachar (Assam) in June 2006 with a view to provide the Unani treatment to the patients visiting the OPD.
- Since then, the Centre is conducting Research OPD, RCH OPD and NCD Clinic, etc and a large number of patients have been benefitted for different ailments from Unani treatment.

- Indian defence Minister will attend ASEAN Defence Ministers Plus meeting & India-ASEAN Defence Ministers meeting during his visit to Cambodia on November 22-23.
ASEAN Defence Ministers meeting 2022
- The ASEAN Security Community (ASC) Plan of Action, adopted at the 10thASEAN Summit, stipulates that ASEAN shall work towards the convening of an annual ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting.
- Against this background, the Inaugural meeting of the ADMM was held in Kuala Lumpur on 9 May 2006.
- The ADMM is the highest defence consultative and cooperative mechanism in ASEAN.
- The ADMM aims to promote mutual trust and confidence through greater understanding of defence and security challenges as well as enhancement of transparency and openness.
About ASEAN Defence Ministers Plus
- The ADMM-Plus is a platform for ASEAN and its eight Dialogue Partners Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russia and the United States (collectively referred to as the “Plus Countries”).
- The Inaugural ADMM-Plus was convened in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, on 12 October 2010.
- ADMM-Plus aims to strengthen security and defence cooperation for peace, stability, and development in the region.
- Since 2017, the ADMM-Plus meets annually, to allow enhanced dialogue and cooperation among ASEAN and the Plus Countries in the midst of an increasingly challenging regional security environment.

- The first batch of delegates came to Kashi from Tamil Nadu to attend the ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ and visit various places.
- They visited Ghats of the holy river Ganga, Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple, Tathagat Ghat and Mulgandha kuti Vihar at Sarnath and the exhibition sites located at the sprawling Banaras Hindu University campus.
Kashi Tamil Sangamam
- Kashi-Tamil Sangamam is a month-long event which will be organized in Varanasi from November 16 to December 19.
- During this Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, academic exchanges – seminars, discussions etc. will be held between experts, and scholars on various facets of the two ancient manifestations of Indian culture, with a focus on bringing out the links and shared values between the two.
- Kashi-Tamil Sangamam aims to rediscover the links between the two ancient knowledge, culture and heritage centres.
- Kashi-Tamil Sangamam will begin from November 16.
Global Partnership on AI (GPAI)
Global Partnership on AI (GPAI) in News
- India will take over the chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) after assuming the presidency of G20, a league of world’s largest economies.
- The Indian Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology will represent India at the GPAI meeting to be held in Tokyo on November 21, 2022 for the symbolic takeover from France, which is the outgoing Council Chair.
What is Global Partnership on AI (GPAI)?
- Global Partnership on AI (GPAI) is an international initiative to support responsible and human-centric development and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- GPAI is a congregation of 25 member countries, including the US, the UK, EU, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, and Singapore.
- India had in 2020 joined the group as a founding member.
- GPAI aims to promote responsible evolution of AI and guide the responsible development and use of AI, grounded in human rights, inclusion, diversity, innovation, and economic growth.
Significance of Global Partnership on AI (GPAI)
- GPAI is a first-of-its-type initiative for evolving better understanding of challenges and opportunities around AI using the experience and diversity of participating countries.
- The alliance will look to bridge the gap between theory and practice by supporting advanced research and applied activities on AI-related priorities.
- It works in collaboration with partners and international organisations, leading experts from industry, civil society, governments, and academia.
