Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation again on 24th March 2020 at 8:00 PM and announced 21 day lockdown in India as a big step regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.

PM Modi announced that all citizens have to fight against COVID -19 and for saving lives of citizens whole country will undergo complete lockdown from 25th March 2020, 12:00 AM for 21 days. The lockdown will be effective for 21 days till 14th April 2020.

India has recorded 519 confirm cases of COVID-19 as on 24 March 2020 and government has taking many precautions and safety for the citizens of all over India.

The Highlights of The Speech

As in PM Modi Speech, he requested to public to stay at home and no to gather in public places.

  • people need not panic about availability of essential commodities and medicines.
  • “Together, we will fight COVID-19 and create a healthier India,” he said.
  • “My fellow citizens, there is absolutely no need to panic,” Modi tweeted.
  • “Essential commodities, medicines etc. would be available. Centre and various state governments will work in close coordination to ensure this,” he said.
  • This lockdown is in a way a curfew and would be more stringent than the Janta curfew.

PM Modi states that to break the chain of spread, 21 days of lockdown is absolutely necessary. If we don’t manage these 21 days, the country will be set back by 21 years.  He also mentioned to remain under the “lakshman rekha” of your houses.  If you put even one foot out, coronavirus will enter your homes.

Different nations have sent back citizens to their respective countries due to this outbreak. The Indian Government is taking steps to bring these citizens home back safely and also have an eye on them. 

Prime Minister announced a medical fund of Rs. 15000 crore to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. All the states and Union Territories have been directed to focus only on healthcare facilities and take strict measures to combat Covid-19.

Apart from what the Government is doing, the public is also required to responsibly take measures such as being at home for the next few days. 

He also requested the public to not to pressure the medical services and hospitals for routine checkups or lesser important concerns as of now because hospitals are already burdened with the checks ups and treatments of patients affected by Covid-19. 

As of now the cases of coronavirus patients has 519 till date. In this condition, our Prime Minister has been constantly in touch with social media in order to let the public know about the measures to take in order to stay safe without getting panicked. Not traveling without any urgent reason, not having gatherings, and staying at home are some of the important steps that have been advised.
