National Institute of Online Schooling (NIOS) has announced the cancellation of the Boards Examination of the session 2019-2020 with an overview of the pandemic situation. Earlier it was declared that the exams will be conducted in July 2020 which are now cancelled due to COVID-19 breakdown. The National Institute of Open Schooling has decided to cancel the Class 10th and 12th exams which were originally scheduled for March 2020 and then again shifted to July 17. In an official announcement, the board members of NIOS said “Conduct of March 2020 Secondary and Senior Secondary course Public Examination rescheduled to commence from July 17 onward and further postponed, now stands cancelled”

NIOS provides a private platform to complete education for those who are not able to attend school regularly or helping the students who fails in the 10th or 12th boards to pass in the same year with the facility of on-demand examination. NIOS is the popular education board in India which is well-known after CBSE and ICSE. In the view of COVID-19 and concerning the health of students, the exams are now cancelled and a new scheme has been released to assess the students.

Alternative Assessment Scheme:
NIOS has going to follow alternative assessment scheme for the making of result if Class 10th and 12th. The process is give below:
- The students of Secondary and Senior Secondary classes, who have previously passed in four subjects and passed in at least 3 or 4 subjects, the average of the marks obtained in the best three performed subjects will be concluded as their theory marks for the final exams which were supposed to be held in the month of March-April 2020 but could not succeed due to the pandemic effect.
- The candidates who have passed in 1 or 2 subjects, their theory marks will be calculated on the basis of their average marks they secured in the theory of last three public exams in the subject he/she was registered for exams in March-April 2020
- The students who were supposed to appear for the first time in the session 2019-2020 and their Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) or practical marks are available with the institute then their final marks for the exams which were to be held in March-April 2020 will be calculated on the basis of their practical marks or TMA.
- The theory mark sheet of the students will be prepared on the basis of their TMA and/or practical marks secured. The candidates will also be given an option if they want to appear in the next Public Examination to improve their marks which would be conducted once the situation is under control.

The results will be prepared accordingly and declared soon on the official website and to the emails of the registered students for the movement of the learners to the next level. This result will be taken as a final result except for those who want to appear in on-demand examination later on.
