S1. Ans.(a)
Sol. Average speed = (Total distance covered)/(Total time taken)
     =(240+260) / (5+5)
     =500/10
     =50 km/hr
S2. Ans.(c)
Sol. Sum of five numbers = 496 × 5 = 2480
Sum of two given numbers = 117 + 140 = 257
Sum of remaining three numbers = 2480 – 257 = 2223
∴ Average of these three numbers
=2223/3=741

S6. Ans.(c)
Sol. Ratio of failed students is reversed to the passed students
Ratio of failed students = 2: 1
∴ failed girls = 1x

Ratio of failed boys to girls = 5: 4
Difference = 5x – 4x = x
x = 25 Given
total failed students = 9x
                                  = 9 × 25 = 225
Required ratio
                         =450/225 = 18/9 = 2/1
S10. Ans.(d)
Sol. Avg. of passed students
        =(900+600+1500+450)/4
         = 862.5
