Solution

S1. Ans.(c); If we multiply a number with itself then the digit obtained at unit place will be the multiple of digit at unit place of the number
So if unit digit of number be 1, then the unit digit of square of the number will also be 1.
if unit digit of number be 2, then the unit digit of square of the number will also be = 2² =4
On checking from 1 to 9 we found that 8 cannot be obtained unit digit of the square of number.

S2. Ans.(c); Total work completed in 1 day
=1/30+1/15 =3/30 =1/10
4 day work=4/10
% of work completed=4/10×100 =40%

S3. Ans.(c); Area of trapezium
=1/2 (21+9)×10= 150 cm²

S4.Ans.(b); Let initial value be 10000
So first discount=20/100×10000 =2000
Second discount=8000×10/100 =800
Third discount=30/100×7200 =2160
Resulting value after 3rd discount = 7200 – 2160 = 5040
So, Net discount = 49.6%

S5. Ans.(d); Let total capacity of one vessel = 48 litre
Milk in Ist vessel=5/12×48 =20 liter
Milk in IInd vessel=7/16×48 =21 liter
Milk in IIIrd vessel=2/3×48 =32 liter
Percentage of milk in resulting mixture
=(20+21+32)/(48×3)×100 =73/144×100= 50.7%

S6.Ans. (b); Let average expenditure be x
(14×7+(21+x))/8=x
⇒ 98 + 21 + x = 8x
⇒119 + x = 8x
⇒7x = 119
⇒x = 17
total amount spend
= 14 × 9 + 21 + 17 = 98 + 38 = 136

S7. Ans.(d); Let C.P. = x
So,x+x/100×x=24
x+x^2/100=24
⇒100x + x² = 2400
⇒x² + 100x – 2400 = 0
⇒x² + 120x – 20x – 2400=0
⇒x(x + 120) –20 (x +120)=0
⇒x = 20, –120
so x = 20
best way is to go through options

S8. Ans.(c); A will get=64/100×145 =92.8
116/100 C=92.8
C = 80

S9.Ans.(b); Distance covered in 6 hours after repairing
= 54 × 6 = 324 km
Required time=324/48= 6 hours 45 min.

S10.Ans. (c); Let principal be x
So interest = 2x
2x=x/100×16/3×R
600/16%=R
R = 37.5%
