(b) 361 sq. metre
(c) 576 sq. metre
(d) 625 sq. metre

SOLUTIONS

S1. Ans.(b)
Sol. Fifth Number
=5×61-2×69-2×69
=305–138–138=29

S2. Ans.(c)
Sol. Let the production of company B = 100 units
∴ Production of company A = 120 units
Production of company C
= (120×100)/80=150 units
∴ Required ratio
=120∶100∶150=12∶10∶15

S3. Ans.(c)
Sol. A : B = 7 : 8
B : C = 4 : 9 = 8 : 18
∴ A : B : C = 7 : 8 : 18
Sum of ratios = 7 + 8 + 18 = 33
Now, C’s share = 18/8×7104
= Rs. 15984

S4. Ans.(d)
Sol. C.P. of article
=Rs.(9300-3100)
=Rs.6200
To gain 25%
S.P. = (6200×125)/100
= Rs. 7750

S5. Ans.(b)
Sol. Interest/Principal=1/10
∴ Rate = (S.I.×100)/(Principal×Time)
=1/10×100/4=2.5% per annum S8. Ans.(b)
Sol. Speed of train
=(Distance travelled)/(Time taken)
430/5=86 km/hr
Speed of bike = 86/2=43 km/hr.
Time taken by bike to cover a distance of 301 km
=Distance/Speed=301/43=7 hours

S9. Ans.(b)
Sol. Effective change in area
=(x+y+xy/100)%
⇒50=20+y+(20×y)/100
⇒50–20=y+y/5
⇒30=6y/5
⇒y=(30×5)/6=25%

S10. Ans.(a)
Sol. Circumference of circle
= 220 metre
∴ 2πr=220
⇒2×22/7×r=220
⇒r=(220×7)/(2×22)
= 35 metre
Diameter = 70 metre
∴ Side of square
=70/10×3=21 metre
∴ Area of square = 21×21
=441 sq. metre
