Adda247 wishes you a Fulfilling and Prosperous Maha Shivratri!
Maha Shivratri is a festival celebrated by Hindus and it is considered one of the most auspicious festivals for Hindus. Maha Shivratri is devoted to Lord Shiva and it celebrates the convergence of the Shiva and Shakti. It is believed that Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvati on this day, thus, making it the embodiment of power and love. When literally translated, Maha Shivratri means “the Great Night of Shiva”. It is celebrated in the Chaturdashi of the month of Magha during the Krishna Paksha. On this auspicious day, Adda247 wishes you the best of everything. We wish all your dreams come true and you achieve your aims and goals with success.
Mythologically, Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvati. As Goddess Parvati symbolizes nature and Lord Shiva is the symbol of mindfulness or the completion of the circle of life and death, their union signifies the essence of nature and that everything that starts has an end and end is also a new beginning in a new form. Everything in nature is a balance of beginning and end. It is also believed that Lord Shiva dances Tandav (a divine dance form that signifies the destruction of the cosmos). Many believe that offering prayer to Lord Shiva on this night can help them overcome darkness and their sins only to the beginning a new journey of righteousness.
On this day at various hours, people offer prayers to Lord Shiva by pouring milk and water along with flowers on Shiva Ling. Some people fast all day and offer their prayer in later evening or night.
