# Reasoning Quiz For KVS 2016-17 Exams

Directions (Q.1-5): In each question below are given two statements followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. You have to take the given two statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read the conclusion and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the two given statements, disregarding commonly known facts.
(a) If only conclusion I follows
(b) If only conclusion II follows
(c) If either conclusion I or II follows
(d) If neither conclusion I nor II follow

Q1. Statements:
All men are married.
Some men are educated
Conclusions:
I. All men are educated.
II. Some educated are married.

No gentleman is poor.
All gentlemen are rich.
Conclusions:
I. No poor man is rich.
II. No rich man is poor.

I. No camera is magazine.
II. Some cameras are magazines.

Q5. Statements:
No bat is ball.
No ball is wicket.
Conclusions:
I. No bat is wicket.
II. All wickets are bats.

Q6. If A = 26, GUN = 27, then CAR = ?
(a) 24
(b) 27
(c) 59
(d) 58

Q7. If DOLL = 65, TOY =21 , then SOMEONE will be equal to
(a) 103
(b) 100
(c) 102
(d) 99

Q8. If J = 10 and HEALTH= 9, how will you code DRESS?
(a) 13
(b) 15
(c) 28
(d) 41

Q9. If ACNE can be coded as 3, 7, 29, 11, then HIGH will be coded as
(a) 17, 29, 19, 17
(b) 17, 19, 15, 17
(c) 17, 31, 21, 17
(d) 17, 31, 19, 17

S6.Ans. (c)
Sol.Clearly, each letter is represented by the numeral denoting its position from the end of the English alphabet i.e. Z = 1, Y = 2, ……, M = 14, ……, B = 25, A = 26.
Then, SUN = G + U + N = 20 + 6 + 13 = 39.
So, CAR = C + A + R = 24 + 26 + 9 = 59.

S7.Ans. (a)
Sol.In the given code, Z = 1, Y = 2, X = 3, ……, C = 24, B = 25, A = 26.
So, DOLL = 23 + 12 + 15 + 15 = 65 and TOY = 7 + 12 + 2  = 21.
Similarly, SOMEONE = S + O + M + E + 0 + N + E = 8 + 12 + 14 + 22 + 12 + 13 + 22 = 103.

S8.Ans. (a)
Sol.We have : A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, ……, Y = 25, Z = 26.
Clearly, the code for a word is obtained by dividing the sum of the individual values of its letters by the number of letters in the word.
Thus, HEALTH =(H + E + A + L + T + H)/6=(8 + 5 + 1 + 12 + 20+8)/6=54/6=9.
So, DRESS =(D+ R +E +S + S)/5=(4 + 18 + 5 + 19+19)/5=65/5=13.

S9.Ans. (b)
Sol.In the given coding system, we have:
So, the code for HIGH is 17, 19, 15, 17

S10.Ans. (c)
Sol.Clearly, each word is coded by the numeral which is 1 less than the number of letters in the
word.
Since there are 10 letters in the word JOURNALIST, so required code = 10– 1 = 9.
