CTET 2021 Exam : Special Provisions For PWD Candidates in CTET 2021 Exam

CTET or Central Teacher Eligibility Test is a national level eligibility test conducted by Central Board for Secondary Education or CBSE. The objective of the test is to determine the eligibility of the candidates appearing for various government teacher’s jobs. The application process has come to an end for the CTET Exam 2021 on 20th October 2021. The CTET Exams are expected to be held between 16th December 2021 to 13th January 2022. CBSE has designed and released some special provisions for the People with Disabilities (PWD) to offer equal opportunities to the candidates under the Rights of People with Disabilities Act, 2016. Read on to know more about the specific rules and regulations laid down by the CBSE for the CTET Exam 2021.

Special Provision for the PWD for CTET Exam 2021:

  • Differently-abled candidates would be given an extra time of 50 minutes for each of the CTET Papers separately. The candidates may or may not opt for a scribe/ amanuensis, the choice rests on them.
  • Candidates with more than 40% of disability will be allowed to take the facility of a scribe/ amanuensis if they need or desire.
  • Candidates can bring their own scribe/ amanuensis or request for a scribe/ amanuensis to be arranged to Centre Superintendents. However, they have to make a written request to the Centre Superintendent one day prior to the exam between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
  • The qualification of the scribe/ amanuensis has to be one step below the candidate appearing for the examination.
  • To avoid confusion and distraction during the examination, a proper seating arrangement preferably on the ground should be provided by the candidate.
  • The visually impaired candidates will be given a properly marked and accurate schedule. The information will include the time of distribution of the question paper, etc.
  • A separate question paper will be given to the visually impaired candidates.
  • The candidates will be allowed more than scribe/ reader for writing different papers, especially for languages.
  • The disability certificate issued by the competent medical authority, regardless of their location, should be accepted across India.
  • The candidates should be provided with questions in the format they have opted for.
  • The candidates should be provided with the option of choosing the mode for taking the examination such as Braille, computer, in large prints or even by recording the answers.
  • In the case of the use of computers, the candidates have to use the computer/laptop provided by the examination centre. The candidates should be allowed to check the computer system one day prior to the examination to avoid any system-related problems occurring during the examination.
  • The candidate can bring their computer accessories such as keyboard, customised mouse, etc., with prior notice.

Guideline for availing the Scribe/ Reader/ Lab Assistant:

Differently-abled candidates will be provided with a scribe/ reader/ lab assistant. However, certain guidelines need to be met before and during the examination by the candidates, the scribe/ reader/ lab assistant and the Centre superintendents to successfully conduct the examination.

  • Candidates with benchmark disabilities in the category of locomotor disability (both arms affected- BA), blindness, and cerebral palsy will be given the facility of a scribe/ reader/ lab assistant.
  • In the case of other categories of disability, candidates need to submit a certificate by a Chief Medical Officer/ Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Government health care institution. (Check the Appendix-I)
  • The candidates can opt for their own scribe/ reader/ lab assistant or ask the Examination Body to arrange for the same. In case, the Examination Body is arranging for the scribe/ reader/ lab assistant, then the candidate must be allowed to meet the scribe/ reader/ lab assistant two days prior to the examination. The candidates can ascertain if the scribe/ reader/ lab assistant is suitable or not to accompany the candidate in the examination.
  • The candidate needs to submit details of the scribe (check Appendix-II).
  • The scribe/ reader/ lab assistant should be one step below the qualification of the candidate.
  • The candidates should be allowed flexibility in accommodating the scribe/ reader/ lab assistant in case of emergency.
  • A candidate can opt for more than one scribe/ reader/ lab assistant for writing different papers, especially for languages. However, candidates can avail themselves of only one scribe/ reader/ lab assistant per subject.
