A new app initiated by the Government to enable this endeavor of reaching out during the fight against COVID-19 is through Aarogya Setu. This app is built to ensure the right information reaches to the users swiftly and smoothly. It helps the people to know if they are potentially at risk of acquiring the infection and its possible spread. The people get advised the best practices of keeping hygiene and diet are all put together in the app along with the medical advisories to restrict the virus.

The Government of India’s Aarogya Setu COVID-19 tracking app is off to a blazing start. The Aarogya Setu app has crossed the 5 Crore user mark in just 13 days of launch. Government of India’s first truly comprehensive COVID-19 tracking app aimed to connect health services with the people to fight the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The cases for Coronavirus in India are also on a constant rise with a total of 11,439 active cases till now and day by day the cases are increasing. The detailed analysis is given below:

Where to Download the Aarogya Setu App?

You can easily download the app on either your android or IOS systems to make use of it. It is available on both Google and Apple app stores.
The stringent user-privacy policy will not allow any third party to get hold of user information other than the Government (only if you are having COVID-19 symptoms) to help provide information to the users about COVID-19 infected persons.

Step 1. Install the app on your smartphone and open it. Select the language that you prefer.

Step 4. Set your location sharing to Always.

Step 5. Enter your mobile number and then enter OTP will be receive on your registered number.

Step 6. You can use all the features of the App.

The Government was working on making such an app on a fast-track basis. It got done as soon as the pandemic broke out. Two prototypes were initially worked on when designing the app process began. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology utilized the feedback of the people and tried to fix the bugs that emerged during the making of the app.

The Aarogya Setu got launched by the National Informatics Centre will do the following

Ask for the User’s registered mobile number
Location data (access permission)
Matches the travelling history with the COVID – 19 positive patients (documented by the Indian Council of Medical Research)

The information will let the user know about the areas that have to be avoided through a social graph. It will show you the trail of the COVID-19 positive person right from where he stayed or traveled or would have accidentally come in contact with the person. If you see the symptoms of COVID-19, you can rush to your nearest healthcare centre and get yourself, and people who have been around you checked for COVID-19.

There is also a self-testing tool with this app wherein the user will have to answer specific questions, and if you do show symptoms of COVID-19, you will get feedback whether you need to go for the actual test to know whether you have contracted an illness or you are good to go.

It has been reiterated time to time and again that the data collected will be strictly used to track COVID-19 cases. Since a vaccine would take perhaps a year and a half to be commercially viable, only containment will save the day. We have to find measures that we have to prevent the spread and decrease the number of infections. Now you can take the help of the app to know the area where there are high numbers of infected people and prevent others from going there.

Isolating oneself from such people or what is known as social distancing and the ones who are susceptible quarantining themselves will help save thousands of lives and prevent disasters that have been occurring in countries wherein the number of people being infected and death tolls have hit the roof.
