Sol. the average of 16 observations = 26
Total of 16 observations = 26×16= 416
Average of 17 observations = 27
Total of 17 observations =27×17 = 459
The 17th observation = 459-416= 43

S4. Ans.(c)
Sol. let the smallest even number = x
x+x+2+x+4+x+6+x+8+x+10= 27×6
6x+30= 162
6x= 132
x= 22
Largest number = x+10
= 22+10= 32

S7. Ans.(b)
Sol. average age of 28 children and their teacher= 30
Total age of 28 children and teacher = 30×29= 870
Total age of 28 children = 28×29= 812
Age of teacher = 870-812= 58 years
