Context: Scientists from China recently discovered a space hurricane for the first time ever above the North pole. Previously, it was believed, space hurricanes were a theoretical phenomenon.

What are space hurricanes?

They are thought to be a result of the solar wind and Earth’s magnetic field interacting.
It is a huge, funnel-like, spiral geomagnetic storm that occurs above the polar Ionosphere of Earth, during extremely quiet conditions.
They are related to the aurora borealis phenomenon, as the electron precipitation from the storm’s funnel produces gigantic, cyclone-shaped auroras.
They are made up of plasmas, consisting of extremely hot ionized gases that rotate at extremely high speeds. As per their report, the hurricane measured roughly 600 miles across and rained down charged electrons for as long as eight hours.
The space hurricane spun counterclockwise at speeds up to 4,700 miles per hour, the academic paper reported.

Scientists believe that they occur in the polar regions of planets with magnetic fields. Hurricanes have also been spotted in the lower atmospheres of our neighboring planets of Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, while similar phenomena – so-called “solar tornados” – have even been spotted churning the surface of the Sun. However, such swirling masses had never before been detected in the upper atmosphere of a planet.

The cool temperate western margins are under the permanent influence of the Westerlies all around the year. They are also regions of much cyclonic activity, typical of Britain, and are hence named British type of climate.

Spatial spread: Britain, lowlands North-West Europe, northern and western France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, western Norway, and also north-western Iberia. In the southern hemisphere, southern Chile, Tasmania, and most parts of New Zealand.
Temperature: The mean annual temperatures are usually between 5°C and 15°C. The annual range of temperature is small. Summers are, in fact, never very warm.
Precipitation: The British type of climate has adequate rainfall throughout the year with a tendency towards a slight winter or autumn maximum from cyclonic sources since the rain-bearing winds come from the west, the western margins have the heaviest rainfall. The amount decreases eastwards with increasing distance from the sea.
Natural Vegetation: The natural vegetation of this climatic type is deciduous forest. The trees shed their leaves in the cold season, for protecting themselves against the winter snow and frost. The common species include oak, elm, ash, birch, beech, poplar, and hornbeam.

These islands are located at a distance of 280 km-480 km off the Kerala coast.
The entire island group is built of coral deposits.

The Islands of this archipelago have storm beaches consisting of unconsolidated pebbles,

Saddle Peak or Saddle Hill is located on North Andaman Island in India’s Andaman and the Nicobar Islands. Narcondam is a small volcanic island located in the Andaman Sea. There are three types of plate boundaries:

Convergent Boundaries: Where the crust is destroyed as one plate dived under another. The location where the sinking of a plate occurs is called a subduction zone. There are three ways in which convergence can occur. These are: (i) between an oceanic and continental plate; (ii) between two oceanic plates; and (iii) between two continental plates.
Divergent Boundaries: Where a new crust is generated as the plates pull away from each other. The sites where the plates move away from each other are called spreading sites. The best-known example of divergent boundaries is the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. At this, the American Plate(s) is/are separated from the Eurasian and African Plates.
Transform Boundaries: Where the crust is neither produced nor destroyed as the plates slide horizontally past each other. Transform faults are the planes of separation generally perpendicular to the midoceanic ridges. As the eruptions do not take all along the entire crest at the same time, there is a differential movement of a portion of the plate away from the axis of the earth. Also, the rotation of the earth has its effect on the separated blocks of the plate portions
