Yoga Olympiad 2020: Since 2016, NCERT has been conducting the Yoga Olympiad every year in which school students from all over the country participate. But this year, due to the extraordinary circumstances created by the Coronavirus pandemic, NCERT has decided to conduct the Yoga Olympiad 2020 in online mode. Recently, NCERT released the scheme and guidelines for the Yoga Olympiad 2020 on its website. The Yoga Olympiad 2020 will be conducted in online mode starting from 21st June 2020. The Olympiad will run for one month and will conclude finally on 21st July 2020. The health protocols and restrictions in place due to the nationwide lockdown has led to the decision by NCERT to conduct the Olympiad on the online mode. The theme for the Yoga Olympiad 2020 is “Yoga for health and harmony”. The different dimensions to be covered in the Yoga quiz this year are:-
- Yama and Niymaa
- Shatkarma / Kriyaa (Cleansing process)
- Bandha and Mudra
Yoga Olympiad 2020: Eligibility And Important Information
Only students presently studying in class 6th to 12th have been allowed to participate in the Yoga Olympiad 2020. The Yoga quiz to be conducted online will be available in two languages, Hindi and English.
The total time available to each student will be 20 minutes. In this time frame, students must attempt as many questions as they can. The questions will be asked in an objective format. For every correct answer, students will be awarded 1 mark and there will be no negative marking.
The students can log-on to the official website for Yoga Olympiad 2020 to attempt the quiz as per their convenience i.e. there are no restrictions on timings for students. But it is pertinent to mention that the total duration of the quiz will be 20 minutes and the quiz will run from 21st June 2020 to 21st July 2020. Yoga Olympiad 2020: Curriculum
As mentioned above, the theme for the Yoga Olympiad 2020 is “Yoga for Health and Harmony.” The questions in the quiz will be asked from the syllabus prepared by the NCERT. NCERT has prepared the syllabus for students studying in upper primary and secondary classes. The syllabus has been prepared in Hindi, English, and Urdu for the convenience of the students.
It is pertinent to mention that though Meditation has been included as a topic, it will not be included in the evaluation process. Moreover, the topic “Bandha and Mudra” is meant only for secondary level students.
