The National Testing Agency (NTA), an autonomous agency formed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, administers the NEET exam (GOI). NTA is in charge of all NEET exam requirements, from student registration to examination administration and result announcement.

Role of NEET For MBBS: Why is NEET important?

The NEET exam has become a mandatory entrance examination for MBBS admissions to all medical institutions, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry, with the implementation of the National Medical Council Act, 2019, from 2020 onwards.
The NEET exam is significant because it is India’s only medical entrance exam, with AIIMS and JIPMER entrance exams having been superseded by NEET.

Role of NEET For MBBS: Eligibility for NEET

The National Eligibility and Common Entrance Examination is India’s single medical entrance exam, and it is used to fill all medical seats in India, including admissions to AIIMS and JIPMER, as well as admissions to medical schools abroad. A student must be at least 17 years old to be eligible for the NEET exam. Furthermore, the students must have a combined score of at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Role of NEET For MBBS: NEET being the only medical entrance exam

Because NEET is India’s only medical entrance examination, private medical institutions are unable to hold their own entrance exams, and private universities are unable to admit students who do not qualify to study medicine.
The NEET entrance test assists medical aspirants in pursuing medical studies or MBBS from abroad, as well as giving them the option to gain a seat in any of the country’s most famous medical colleges.
In comparison to past years, students taking the NEET exam must attempt 180 questions in 3 hours, giving them more time to study and concentrate on their papers and a chance to score higher.

Role of NEET For MBBS: The pattern of the NEET exam

The NEET exam will consist of 180 multiple-choice questions worth four points each, with one mark removed for each incorrect response. Furthermore, if a candidate does not attempt any question, no marks will be awarded or withheld, and candidates will have three hours to answer each question.
