West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam dates (WBJEE) 2021: Detailed Information

Despite the cancellation of Board Exams from the center and a lot of other states, the state of West Bengal has decided to conduct the engineering entrance exam for undergraduate students. The exam is scheduled to be held on July 17.

According to West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEE) Chairman Malayendu Saha, as many as 274 centers for the examinations are set up for the students. He said that this will be the first physical examination to be conducted after covid-19.

From the total number of students appearing in the exam, nearly 40% of them are from outside of the state. The chairman also said that he along with the Bengal Government has been planning to declare the entrance exam results by August. If this happens, then the counseling process will be followed in three phases.

For the year 2021, the entrance exam for undergraduate engineering aspirants the exam will be held on Saturday. This is contrary to the previous years when the entrance exams would be conducted on a Sunday. The exam is on Saturday to ensure proper vehicle availability to the candidates as fewer vehicles are allowed on the road due to the restriction.

West Bengal will also conduct the entrance exams for other undergraduate courses in the same way. The state is planning to complete the various entrance exams latest by September. This is decided so that the results for the entrance exams can be declared on time along with the counseling process.

Earlier the West Bengal Education Board asked for feedback from parents and teachers regarding the Board Exams. A lot of parents showed fear for conducting the Board Exams for this year. The government then decide to cancel the Board Exams. Class 11 final exams too were canceled and students have been directly promoted to Class 12.

The Joint Entrance Examination for engineering undergraduates (JEE) 2021 hasn’t yet been conducted. The exam was supposed to be conducted four times a year. Two sessions out of four were conducted in February and March. But as the second wave of Covid affected the country, the sessions scheduled for April and May were canceled.

The admit cards too were released for JEE mains 2021 but the exam hasn’t yet been held. According to sources it might get postponed just like the entrance exam of medical aspirants The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test NEET 2021. The registration process for NEET hasn’t yet started. The government is also yet to take a decision on Common Entrance Test for All Universities.
