National Awards To Teachers 2020: There is an important update for all the teachers who were waiting for the opening of the application window for National Awards to Teachers 2020. As per the latest notification published by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the application window for National Awards to Teachers 2020 has now been opened. The application window will remain open till 6th July 2020. So, all the teachers who meet the eligibility criteria for the National Awards to Teachers 2020 must submit their applications within this window only.

Teachers who are teaching in either a recognized private school or a government school are eligible to apply for the National Awards to Teachers 2020. These awards are conferred to the heads of the schools and school teachers teaching in primary, middle, high, and higher secondary recognized schools in India. These awards are presented on the occasion of Teacher’s Day every year.

 

National Awards to Teachers 2020: Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for National Awards to Teachers 2020 specifies that retired teachers can not apply for the awards. But there is an exception to this rule. If a teacher has served at least four months in the current calendar year in the profession, i.e., up to 30th April 2020, then he/she can be eligible to apply for the awards, subject to fulfillment of other specified eligibility conditions.

The evaluation of the applications for National Awards to Teachers 2020 will be based on two key aspects, i.e., objective and performance-based. The weightage of the objective criteria is 20%, while the performance makes up for 80% of the weightage.

 

National Awards to Teachers 2020: Selection Process

The selection process for National Awards to Teachers 2020 is as follows: –

  • The application for the National Awards to Teachers 2020 must be submitted online.

  • District Selection Committee will scrutinize the applications and forwards three names to the State Selection Committee.

  • The State Selection Committee will prepare a shortlist of the candidates based on the maximum number allowed to the respective state or UT. The names will then be forwarded to the National Level Independent Jury. There is also an Organization Selection Committee for other organizations.

  • Shortlisted candidates will have to make a 45-min presentation before the National Jury, which will then select 45 names from the list along with two names for differently-abled teachers in the special category.
