Due to the schools across the state of Kerala being shut to control the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, academic activities have not been able to perform at the optimal level. Now, as the state is slowly returning to normalcy, the government of Kerala has decided to resume academic activities gradually.
Recently, the government had announced that the schools in Kerala would be re-opening from 6th June 2020 and also specified the guidelines for the students. Now, the Chief Minister of the state Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan has announced the dates for SSLC, Plus One and Plus Two exams.
Kerala Exams 2020: Important Dates
According to the announcement of the Chief Minister, the exams for SSLC, Plus One, and Plus Two will be conducted between the period starting from 21st May 2020 and continuing till 29th May 2020. Originally these exams were scheduled to be completed by 26th March 2020 for more than 4.2 Lakh students who had applied for these exams. But the exams had to be postponed due to the nationwide lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Public Examination Board in the state is already making the necessary arrangements for the exam. The Chief Minister also elaborated that the process of evaluation of completed examination answer sheets will commence from 13th May 2020. Kerala has already announced that there will be no exams for class 8th and class 9th students.
While making the announcement regarding Kerala Exams 2020, the chief minister was quoted as saying that, “Public Examination Board is making preparations for conducting deferred public examinations — class 10, Plus One and Plus Two — to be completed between 21st May and 29th May.”
Kerala Exams 2020: Special Educational Programs Through Victors Channel
The Chief Minister also stated that if due to any reasons the reopening of schools in Kerala is delayed, then special education programs will be aired for the students on Victors channel. Schools in Kerala were originally planned to be re-opened from 1st June 2020, but it was then delayed to 6th June due to the celebrations for Id-ul-Fitr which might be celebrated in the state on 4th or 5th June 2020.
The government has already instructed the cable operators and the DTH platforms to ensure that Victors Channel is available on their platforms. He stated that “Mobile and web facilities will be available for these classes. For those students who do not have these options, special facilities will be made.”
The chief minister also added that the training programs which were being conducted for 81,609 primary teachers before the lockdown will also be completed through the Victor channel. Moreover, the vacation time training for primary and upper-primary teachers will also be completed through Victors Channel starting from 14th May 2020.
