ICSE (ISC) Board Exam 2020: Kolkata School Ask Students To Get Corona Negative Certificate To Appear In Exam

ICSE Board Exam 2020: In a bizarre incident, a reputed private school in Kolkata, St Augustine’s Day School, has asked the parents to get their wards checked for Coronavirus infection if they wish for them to appear in the pending ICSE and ISC Examinations to be conducted in the month of July.

The school has asked the parents to submit the COVID-19 Test Reports of their wards to the school authorities latest by 25th June 2020. The notice released on the school’s website reads that “Should your ward be interested in the examination, parents are requested to go for a COVID TEST for your ward and get a negative result, which will help all the students appearing the Examination and minimizing the risk of all the other people who are involved in conducting the ICSE (or ISC) Examination 2020 for the revised dates.”

 

ICSE Board: School Has Its Own Reasons Behind This Decision

When contacted, the principal of the school informed the media that this step is necessary to ensure the safety of other students and staff members to be present during the examinations. He said that as the school is located in a containment zone, these precautions are absolutely essential. The notice further reads that the parents need to submit the consent regarding the decision to appear for the examinations by 19th June 2020. It has also been informed that if any student does not wish to appear for the examinations, then the marks scored by them in the pre-board examinations will be considered as final and the result will be based on the pre-board marks.

 

ISC Board: Mixed Reactions On The Decision of The School

The decision of the Kolkata School To Ask for COVID 19 Reports has taken everyone else by surprise. A member of the Association of Heads of ICSE Schools, West Bengal said that they have no information regarding any other school having imposed the same condition for candidates interested in appearing for the exams. The decision has been ridiculed by another Principal of a school in South Kolkata and he was quoted as saying, “Absolutely ridiculous and unfair to the children. Can a school do this to its students? Instead, they could have used thermal guns to check the body temperature of candidates at the gate and keep a medical helpdesk nearby.”
