How to avoid silly mistakes in exams?

To avoid silly mistakes, the first step is to identify where the probability lies for a student to make mistakes. The first place where a student can probably make mistake is to not read the question paper completely.

The first 15 minutes are allotted solely to go through the question paper. Students should read all the questions and make a strategy accordingly as to which questions should be attempted first and which ones should be attempted at last.

The ones for which you seem to be confident enough can be answered first. The lengthy ones should be postponed until you complete the first set. Secondly, students should always keep a track of the time. Few of the students forget to keep a track of the time and end up giving a lot more time in a single question, than what is required. This leads to a loss of time and they are not able to complete the paper.

Thirdly, as CBSE will be conducting the board exams in two terms with a change in the pattern of examination, students should try to fill the OMR sheet with a ball pen instead of using a gel pen or ink pen. A gel or ink pen can bloat even if a single drop of water is dropped on the paper. This won’t be the case with ball pens.

Fourthly, try to avoid carrying water bottles inside the examination hall and even if you do, keep it on the floor and not on top of the table.

Fifthly, try to keep the OMR sheet as clean as possible. This will make it easier for the evaluators to check the sheets and will lead the evaluator to consider giving marks leniently to the candidate.

Sixthly, make sure that you write your credentials on the OMR sheet correctly and with the necessary spaces in between. Double-check your registration number and roll number while you fill the same in the OMR sheet.

Seventhly, attempt all questions as there is no negative marking. Do not leave even a single question. Guess the

Eighthly, consider reading questions at least twice. This will save you from the trap of skipping keywords like NOT, and, or, etc. These keywords when used in questions can instantly change the flow of it.

Ninthly, remember to carry all the accessories you will be requiring for the paper. Avoid talking and borrowing stationery items from your friends or classmates while you are inside the examination centre. This might lead you to lose marks if caught by an invigilator.

And lastly, do not get panicked and solve the paper by remembering the answer to the questions you have prepared thoroughly. Have a good night sleep before the examination day so that you can focus completely.
