There is an extremely important update for the students of class 12th studying under the Himachal Pradesh Board of Secondary Education. As per the latest announcement made by the HPBOSE, the students of class 12th in the state will only have to appear for the geography exam. Other exams that were pending like Physical Science, Computer Science and Yoga have now been cancelled. Now instead students will be awarded marks for these exams based on their scores in the compulsory exams.
The board has issued a statement that these exams have been cancelled because a large number of students will appear for these exams, thus increasing the risk of Coronavirus infection. As social distancing helps control the spread of the infection, it is better to cancel these exams. The exam for Geography is being conducted because of the relatively lesser numbers of examinees who will be appearing for the Geography exam. It is expected that around 4,345 examinees will appear for the exam.
HP 12th Board Exams: Dates For Geography Exam Soon
While announcing the cancellation of other exams, the board tweeted that, “The cancellation of the subjects is due to the large number of candidates appearing for those subjects.” The final dates for the Geography exam have not yet been announced by the board. As per the reports, the dates for the class 12th geography exam will be announced in a few days.
The statement from the HPBOSE also mentions that all the schools have been instructed to confirm the locations of the students who will be given the option of appearing for the Geography exam at a location near where they are present.
HP 12th Board Exams: Evaluation Of Answer Sheets
Due to the increasing threat of the Coronavirus pandemic in the state, the HPBOSE has to reschedule the pending exams due to the nationwide lockdown. These exams were to be conducted from 23rd to 26th March originally but had to be deferred. As the lockdown kept on getting extended, it was becoming difficult for the HP Board to conduct these exams while ensuring the social distancing norms.
In the meanwhile, the evaluation process for the class 10th and class 12th board exams has already started. As per the updates, the results for the class 10th board exams are expected by mid-June 2020, and the final results for the class 12th exams are expected to be declared by the end of June 2020.
In the meantime, as the schools in the state have been closed since the lockdown and will not be opening till at least 31st May 2020, students have been advised to continue their studies through the available online resources.
