Haryana School: Haryana To Re-Open Schools In July- Education Minister

Haryana Schools Re-Open In July: Ever since the nationwide lockdown came into effect in the month of March 2020, schools across the country have been shut, leaving the students with no other option but to continue their studies from their homes using the available online resources. But with the academic year already having started, students have been feeling a little uncertain regarding their future. The same has been the case with the school students of Haryana. As per the latest updates shared by the state education minister Mr. Kanwar Pal Gujjar, the government has decided to resume classroom sessions for students in the month of July. Initially, classes will begin for students of classes 10th, 11th, and 12th and then later on for the other classes. These classes will be conducted in shifts to ensure the enforcement of the social distancing norms.

While interacting with the media, the education minister said, “We will do it in a phased manner by starting teaching work for classes 10, 11 and 12 on July 1; for classes 6, 7, 8 and 9 after 15 days; and for the primary classes from August.

The education minister further added that “The classes would be held in shifts so that half the students of a class come in the first shift and the rest in the second shift. We are yet to decide whether it should be morning and evening shift or on alternate days.” He also added that a few demo classes will be conducted to work out the intricacies regarding the social distancing norms and how they can be implemented in the classrooms. He said, “It will give us an idea if we face any problem because when we take a final decision on opening schools then making frequent changes will not be feasible.”

Committees To Be Formed by District Education Officers

The education minister also added that the state government will take feedback from parents, teachers, and experts regarding conducting the classes in two shifts to ensure social distancing. In the meantime, the Directorate of Education has instructed the District Education Officers to constitute a committee comprising different stakeholders regarding the resumption of classroom sessions. The committee will have to share its report with the government by 7th June 2020.

The education minister also held a meeting with the senior officials of the education department to chalk out a strategy regarding the reopening of the schools. As and when the schools might reopen in Haryana, students will have to comply with the social distancing norms as well as the use of face masks and hand sanitizers. Also, it is advisable that the students continue their learning process at home with the help of the resources made available by the government as well as the schools.
