There is an important notification issued by the Delhi Government wherein summer vacations have been declared in all Delhi Schools. As per the notice issued by the Directorate of Education: School Branch, Delhi Government on May 6 2020, summer vacations have been announced starting from May 11, 2020, Till June 30 2020. This means that the schools across the state will now stay closed till the end of June.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing nationwide lockdown, schools in Delhi have been closed since March 16, 2020, anyways. The Directorate of Education has instructed all heads of the schools in Delhi to intimate the students and parents regarding the Delhi summer vacations through SMS, WhatsApp, and telephone. No educational and learning activities can be conducted in the school premises under any circumstances during this period.
Delhi Summer Vacations 2020: No Additional Activities During The Vacations
It was usually a norm across schools in Delhi to conduct extra classes or co-curricular activities during the summer vacations. But this year, the government has strictly prohibited any type of educational or co-curricular activities in the schools during Delhi summer vacations.
The schools have been advised to facilitate online learning during the summer vacations and make sure that students pursue their studies from their homes. This notification is applicable to government as well as government-aided schools in the state. Private schools will be announcing their summer holidays accordingly.
Though various relaxations have been announced by the union government during Lockdown 3.0 in the green zones, all schools and colleges have been ordered to remains hut during this period. Now that the summer holidays have been announced, resumption of educational activities in the schools has now been delayed till June 30 2020. If the schools will re-open from July 1, 2020, it depends on the situation of the Coronavirus pandemic in the city.
Delhi Summer Vacations 2020: Digital Learning Is The Way Ahead
As the schools in the city have been closed since March 16 2020, the government has been trying hard to encourage the students and their parents to continue their studies from home through digital mediums. In Delhi, all school students have been promoted to the next class without final exams for the academic year 2020-21, with the exception of class 10th and 12th students.
The e-learning platforms are being used by the students to continue with their studies for the new classes. For the convenience of students who do not have access to the internet, the government is airing academic content and lessons through SWAYAM Prabha channels. Every day different lessons for various subjects for different classes are aired on SWAYAM Prabha channels which are available across all leading DTH Platforms.
