There is finally an important exam related update for all the class 10th students in the country who were staring at uncertainty regarding their future due to the postponement of final exams due to the nationwide lockdown.
After a recent interaction with students regarding the impact of COVID 19 pandemic on their education, the HRD Minister of the country, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced that no exams would be held for class 10th students across the country, with the exception of those students whose examination centres were located in North-East Delhi. For the uninitiated, the board exams for class 10th and 12th students with examination centres in North East Delhi were postponed due to the riots in the area.
Class 10th Board Exams: No Exams Nationwide
The tweet from the HRD Minister read as, “Attention class X students! No examination to be held for class X students nationwide, except for students from North-East Delhi. An adequate time of 10 days will be given to all students for the preparation of exams“.
Earlier, CBSE had issued a statement that will only be conducting examinations for the important subjects for the class 12th students across the country. Moreover, citing logistical reasons, CBSE had stated that no pending exams would be conducted for students who had registered for the exams from abroad.
Class 10th Board Exams: North East Delhi Students have to wait
While class 10th students from across the country have been handed a reprieve after the tweet from the minister, the students with examination centres in East Delhi originally need to wait for the announcement of exam dates. The students had missed out on six exams due to protests over the CAA Bill and then the ensuing nationwide lockdown.
The exams which these students missed and are remaining are English Language, English Communication, Hindi Course B, Hindi Course A, Science, and Social Science. The HRD minister further added that the date sheet for the class 10th students and class 12th students for the remaining exams would be announced soon.
Class 12th Board Exams: Dates To Be Announced Soon
When asked about the pending exams for the class 12th students, the minister said that preparations are underway, and dates will be announced soon. Students will be given adequate time of 10 days to prepare for the exams. The remaining subjects for which exams are to be conducted for class 12th are Business Studies, Geography, Computer Science (Old), Computer Science (New), Hindi (Core), Hindi (Elective), Information Practice (Old), Information Practice (New), Bio-Technology, Information Technology Sociology, Home Science.
