CBSE Term 1 admit card 2021: all Regional languages are minor subjects?

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) clarified the issue of regional languages being included in the minor list. The explanation comes after Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi expressed his displeasure with the ‘Punjabi’ language issue being labelled as a minor subject.
Following the complaint of the Punjab Chief Minister, the Central Board of Secondary Education made an important clarification. This was stated in the clear message that was published on social media channels:
“It is clarified that the classification of subjects has been done purely on the administrative ground for the purpose of the conduct of Term – I Examinations based on the number of candidates appearing in the subject and in no way reflects the importance of subjects as Major or Minor.”
The statement went on to say that all disciplines are equally important academically, and that including all regional languages in the minor subject list was done for administrative reasons.
After the CBSE announced the Term 1 Date Sheet for minor subjects, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi slammed the board. Mr Channi stated that keeping Punjabi out of the major topics goes against the federal spirit of the Constitution and undermines Punjabi youth’s right to learn their own language.
