CBSE Board Exams 2020: Answering all the speculations regarding the possible cancellation of board exams for class 10th and 12th students, the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) has specified that the exams will be conducted as soon as possible. CBSE tweeted from its official handle that “Recently there has been a lot of speculation regarding CBSE Board 10th, 12th Exam 2020. CBSE Board Exams 2020: CBSE Latest News Update Over Class 10th 12th

CBSE issued an official clarification that all the pending examinations for Class 10th and Class 12th students will be conducted as and when the nationwide lockdown is lifted. The board also specified that the students would be given at least 10 days’ time in order to prepare for the exams. The official statement from CBSE read, “With regards to the conduct of Class 10 examinations. It is once again reiterated that remaining examinations would be conducted by CBSE. It is once again clarified that adequate time of 10 days will be given to all stakeholders before starting the examinations.”
CBSE was compelled to issue an official statement to clarify the doubts amongst the students and parents after there were certain reports doing rounds on social media. With these reports, rumors were being spread that as the COVID-19 pandemic is showing no signs of abating any time soon, CBSE Board might cancel the pending exams for class 10th and 12th students. The source behind these reports is being speculated as to the statement from Mr. Anurag Tripathy, Secretary, CBSE, wherein he was quoted as saying to a news channel that “As the minor subjects of class 10 board exams are pending, it can be canceled.” Additionally, the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Manish Sisodia had raised a demand to cancel the pending board exams for class 10th and 12th and promote the students based on their performance in internal assessment and exams; further fuelling the confusion. But now that the CBSE has issued an official statement, all these speculations have been put to rest. The board also mentioned that the decision to conduct the exams for 19 subjects for class 10th and 12th board exam is still the same as was mentioned in the official circular issued on 1st April 2020. The notice issued by the CBSE also reiterates that the examinations will be conducted only after assessing the situation once the lockdown is finished. Meanwhile, the Hon’ble Minister for Human Resource Development, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, has informed that the CBSE board examinations for class 10th and 12th will be conducted only for the 29 main subjects, which are essential for the promotion of the students and admission to higher education institutions.
