UPSC Geo Scientist Recruitment 2019-20
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the notification for application of Geo Scientist 2020 in September. Mode of Payment
Online Payment: Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only), alongwith the submission of On-line Application Form, either by remitting the money in any Branch of State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card or by using Internet
Banking of SBI.
Cash Mode: Candidates who wish to use cash mode of Payment, may use “Pay by Cash” mode at SBI Branch before 14th October 2019.
UPSC Geo Scientist Recruitment Selection Process:
There are three stages in UPSC Geo-Scientist Recruitment Selection process:
- Stage-I : Computer Based Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) having two papers for selection of the candidates for the Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination. Marks secured in the Preliminary Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit;
- Stage-II : Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination (Descriptive Type) having three papers for selection of candidates for the Personality Test (Stage-III). Marks secured in the Main Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit; and
- Stage-III: Personality Test/Interview
Note that the Objective Type Exam will have a one-third negative marking for each wrong answer

- There will be Negative Marking for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the objective type question papers.
(i) There are four alternatives for answers to each question asked. For each wrong answer, one-third of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
(ii) No marks will be given if no answer is given by the candidate - The candidates are not permitted for use of calculators during the exam. They should therefore not bring the same inside the Examination Hall.
- Only those candidates who are declared by the Commission to have qualified in the Preliminary/Stage-I Examination in the year will be eligible for admission to the Main/Stage-II Examination of that year provided they are otherwise eligible for admission to the Main/Stage-II Examination.
Note: The number of candidates to be admitted to the Main/Stage-II Examination will be about six to seven times the total approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year through this Examination.
