No Change in UPSC Exam Pattern and No Proposal to drop CSAT- Check Details here

The Exam Pattern of UPSC Civil Services has not been changed. There is no plan to drop the civil services aptitude test (CSAT) from the civil services examination, confirmed Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh in a written reply.

Unlike previous years, the aptitude exams would be conducted. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the civil services examination annually in three stages namely preliminary, main and interview to select officers from all over India for Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS).

The civil services aptitude test (CSAT) is a part of the civil services preliminary examination.

As per PTI report, Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha gave response while writing “No Sir” to a query on the plans to drop the CSAT. He also said in a meeting that the government is not planning to change anything in the pattern of the UPSC civil services examination, including the replacement of interviews with a psychological test.

On 4 October, 2020, UPSC will conduct the Civil Services prelims exam. During the pandemic, the examination would be conducted as per the guidelines issued by the Commission for IAS exam.

According to the Commission, wearing masks is compulsory for all the candidates who are appearing in the exam. Also, it is required that candidates also need to bring their own sanitizers to the venue to appear for the CSE Prelims.

About Civil Services Prelims Examination

The CSE Prelims examination is a screening test i.e. the marks obtained in the prelims exam will be declared eligible for the main exam. It consists of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions).

The names of two papers are General Studies Paper-I (Questions: 100, Marks: 200) and General Studies Paper-II (Aptitude Test) (Questions: 80, Marks: 200). The General Studies Paper-II is also known as CSAT paper.

Therefore, the CSE Prelims examination carry a maximum of 400 marks in the subjects set out in subsection (A) of Section II.

UPSC Civil Services Admit Card 2020 has been released a few days ago and candidates have to reach the examination center at 9:20 am (10 minutes) prior to the exam begins and in the evening shift, candidates must have to reach at 2:20 pm.
