KVS Exam is conducted every year to recruit teachers to teach at primary, secondary and senior secondary levels in various Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools across India. As per the previous trends in the exam pattern of KVS, it has been observed that the syllabus is the same more or less the same for PRT, TGT, and PGT. In 2020 a few changes are expected to occur. KVS Exam Pattern 2020 For Paper I & Paper II

The exam will be of two papers: Paper I and Paper II. The total marks is 150 and the duration of the test will be 150 minutes. The questions will be objective type with four MCQ’s.

(a) Curriculum: Meaning, Principal, Types of Curriculum, Organizations and approaches
(b) Planning: Instructional Plan- Year Plan,  Unit Plan, Lesson Plan
(c) Instructional materials and resources: Texts Books, workbooks, Supplementary materials AV aids, Laboratories, Library, Clubs-Museums-Community, Information and communication technology
(d) Evaluation: Types, tools, Characteristics of a good test, Continuous and Comprehension Evaluation, analysis and interpretation of the Scholastic Achievement Test.

(ii) Inclusive Education
(a) Understanding Diversities: Concept types

(b) Disability as a social construct, classification of disability and its educational implications:

(i) Sensory Impairment (Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment)
(ii) Cognitive Disabilities: (Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and Specific Learning Disability)
(iii) Physical Disabilities: Cerebral Palsy and locomotor)

(c) Philosophy of inclusion with Special Reference to children with disabilities.

(d) The process of Inclusion: Concern issues across disabilities.

(e) Constitutional Provisions

(iii) Communication & Interaction
Theory of Communication, Types of Communication in the classroom.

(iv) Understanding Learning
Concept, Nature of Learning-input-Process-outcome, Factors of learning- Personal and Environmental, Approaches to learning and their applicability- Behaviourism (Skinner, Pavlov, Thorndike) Constructivism (Plaget, Vygotsky), Gestalt (Kohler, Koffka) and Observational, Dimensions of Learning- Cognitive, Affective and Performance, Motivational and Sustenance.

How Can I Become a KVS Teacher?

In order to be selected as a teacher in KVS, a candidate has to fulfill the following eligibility criteria.

(a) Two Years’ Integrated Post Graduate M.Sc. Course of Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject.


Master’s Degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks in aggregate in the following subjects.

Master’s Degree in Commerce. However, holder of Degree of M.Com in Applied/ Business Economics shall not be eligible

Botany/ Zoology/ Life Sciences/ Bio Sciences/ Genetics/ Micro Biology/ Bio-Technology/ Molecular Biology/ Plant Physiology provided they have studied Botany and Zoology at Graduation level


PGT (History)



PGT (Geography)


(b) B.Ed or equivalent degree from a recognized University.

(c) Proficiency in teaching in Hindi and English Language.

(d) Knowledge of computer applications is desirable.

Important Points For KVS Exam 2020

  • The Interview will carry 150 marks.
  • There will not be any negative marking in the exam.
  • The question paper will be set in both English and Hindi.
  • KVS Paper will be objective type with four multiple-choice questions(MCQ)
  • Knowledge of the syllabus for the respective subject for which the candidate is applying is a must.
  • The weightage of written test and interview will be 85:15 for the post of Principal. PGT, TGT, and PRT.
  • For the post of PRT(music) the weightage of written test, performance test and interview will be 60:25:15
