Indian Coast Guard AC Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

(i) The candidates who have passed Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (i.e. 1st Semester to 8th Semester for BE/B.Tech Course or 1st year to last year for Bachelor Degree candidates wherever applicable).

(ii) Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or 12th of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with 60% marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Physics. (Candidates not in possession of Physics and Maths in 10+2 (intermediate) or equivalent level are not eligible for General Duty).

Only candidates cleared their final year/ final semester exams and completed their degrees are eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The candidates who are born between 01 Jul 1996 to 30 Jun 2000 (Both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply for this recruitment. The Upper age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates has been announced in the notification.

Indian Coast Guard AC Recruitment 2020: Selection Process

The candidate’s selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid for that batch only. The candidates have to pass through the following stages to recruit at the post.

Stage I

Shortlisting of Applications

Shortlisting criteria will be based on a higher percentage of marks in the qualifying examination and the qualifying cut off may be increased more than 60% if more applications with higher % are received.

Preliminary Selection

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Preliminary Selection at given date and time which will consist of Mental Ability Test/ Cognitive Aptitude Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test. The aptitude tests will be in English only and will be of objective type. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English. However, they are free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so.

Stage -II

Final Selection

The candidates who qualify Preliminary Selection will be called for Final Selection. The date and venue for Final Selection Board (FSB) will be uploaded on Indian Coast Guard website The Final Selection will be conducted tentatively from End Feb to Mid Apr 2021. The Final Selection will consist of Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test). All documents/ certificates verified during PSB are also required to be produced in originals during FSB.

Medical Test

All candidates recommended by the Final Selection Board will undergo Medical examination at nearest Military Hospital as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to Assistant Commandant entry.

(a) Heigh: 157 cms minimum. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. regulations.

(b) Weight: Proportionate to the Height and Age, + 10 % acceptable.

(c) Chest: Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cms.

(d) Eye Sight: 6/6, 6/9 – Uncorrected without Glass and 6/6 6/6 – Corrected with Glass.

(e) Tattoo. Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body.

  2. Select the advertisement for Recruitment of Assistant Commandant02/2021 Batch (SRD).
  3. Click on the post {Asst. Commandant General Duty (Male)} to be applied.
  4. Click on the ‘I Agree’ button and the ‘Online Application’ will be displayed.
  5. Proceed to fill the application and upload the photograph and signature in jpeg format (image quality 200 dpi). The size of the photograph and signature must be between 10 kb to 40 kb and 10 kb to 30 kb respectively.

Assistant Commandant Promotion & PayScale

The promotions to the ranks will be as per the laid down promotion criteria. The pay scales for the various ranks as per the 7th CPC are as follows:-

Assistant Commandant -Level 10; Starting Basic Pay- Rs 56,100/-
The posts at which the AC can be promoted include Deputy Commandant (Level 11; Rs. 67,700/-), Commandant (JG) (Level 12: 78,800/-), Commandant (Level 13; Rs. 1,23,100/-), Deputy Inspector General (Level 13A Rs. 1,31,100/-), Inspector General (Level 14; Rs. 1,44,200/-, Additional Director General (Level 15; Rs. 1,82,200/-), and Director General (Level 16 Rs. 2,05,400/-).
The other pay and allowances are admissible as per the rules and regulation in addition to the above pay scale.

List of Documents required for verification

Candidate has to carry the following documents along with them to the exam hall else their entry will not be permitted for appearing in the written examination.

(a) Two copies of computer-generated E-admit card form along with recent colour passport size photo (Not older than 03 months).
(b) Original class Xth pass certificate and mark sheet.
(c) Original class XIIth pass certificate and mark sheet.
(d) Original Degree Certificate with all semesters/years mark sheets of BE/B.Tech/ Graduation with CPA/CGPA conversion for a percentage of marks from the university.
(e) Proof of identities such as passport, driving license, Aadhaar Card, voter I card, college ID card or any other photo identity proof.
(f) Caste Certificate (if applicable) in original for OBC candidates (Non-creamy layer only) as per Govt. of India format (format available in and in
original for SC & ST candidates as per Govt. of India/ State Govt.
(g) Character certificate. (Should not be older than six months on the date called for PSB).
(h) Twelve recent colour passport size photographs with a blue background.
