1. EXAMINATION CENTRE OF JAWAHARLAL NEHRU MEDICAL COLLEGE (JNMC)
– Union Education Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank inaugurated Examination Centre of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University through a video conferencing platform.
– The examination centre has been built on a government grant of rupees two cores.

2. SHARES AND EQUITY OF NXTRA DATA LIMITED
– The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approves proposed acquisition of compulsorily convertible preference shares and equity of Nxtra Data Limited by Comfort Investments II.
– Comfort Investments II is a special purpose vehicle incorporated in Mauritius, created for the purposes of the proposed transaction and is owned and controlled by the investment funds advised by affiliates of the Carlyle Group Inc. Carlyle Group Inc. is a global alternative asset manager, which manages funds that invest globally.
– Nxtra Data, and unlisted entity incorporated in India, is a fully owned subsidiary of Bharti Airtel Limited which provides an integrated portfolio of collocation, cloud and managed services across India through its 10 data centers located in India (including 2 partner data centres in Mumbai) across 7 locations.
3. EXPORT PREPAREDNESS INDEX (EPI) 2020
– NITI Aayog in partnership with the Institute of Competitiveness has released the Export Preparedness Index (EPI) 2020.
– It is the first time that NITI Aayog released a report to examine export preparedness and performance of Indian states.
– EPI intends to identify challenges and opportunities; enhance the effectiveness of government policies; and encourage a facilitative regulatory framework.
– The structure of the EPI includes 4 pillars –Policy; Business Ecosystem; Export Ecosystem; Export Performance – and 11 sub-pillars –Export Promotion Policy; Institutional Framework; Business Environment; Infrastructure; Transport Connectivity; Access to Finance; Export Infrastructure; Trade Support; R&D Infrastructure; Export Diversification; and Growth Orientation.
– Gujarat placed at the top in the overall EPI 2020 followed by Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Across Union Territories, Delhi has performed the best.

4. SUPREME COURT URGED TO SET UP 11-JUDGE BENCH ON QUOTA CAP
– The Supreme Court has been urged to set up an 11-judge Bench to reconsider its 50% cap on the reservation. The push for it came while the court was hearing a challenge to the Maratha reservation law which provides 12% to 13% quota for the community in Maharashtra.
– A bunch of petitions contended that it breached the 50% cap on reservation declared by a nine-judge Bench of the court in 1992.
– The lawyers submitted that the court should revisit the percentage of reservation, taking into consideration the recent developments in the front, including the 10% quota for economically weaker sections introduced recently through the 103rd Constitutional Amendment.
5. THE DRAFT POLICY ON HEALTH DATA MANAGEMENT
– The National Health Authority (NHA) has released the draft Health Data Management Policy of the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) in the public domain.
– The objectives of the draft policy is to provide adequate guidance and to set out a framework for the secure processing of personal and sensitive personal data of individuals who are a part of the national digital health ecosystem.
– It will be in compliance with all applicable laws and international standards that define the set of frameworks of consent for the collection and processing of health data by healthcare practitioners and other entities, and other relevant standards associated with data interoperability and data sharing.
– The NDHM seeks to provide a unique health ID to each citizen who wishes to have one and also on-board the healthcare service provides (hospitals, pharmacies and diagnostic labs, among others). It will have an online database of doctors (DigiDoctor) and personal health records (PHRs).

6. MCKINSEY GLOBAL INSTITUTE (MGI) REPORT ON INDIA’S GDP
– As per the MGI report, the GDP of India needs to grow annually at 8-8.5% to create opportunities in the post-COVID-19 period.
– It opines that India risks a decade of stagnating incomes and quality of life if urgent steps are not taken to spur growth and said that urgent reforms are required with the aim of increasing productivity and creating jobs.
– MGI pointed out that the manufacturing and the construction sectors offer the most opportunities for economic growth and also for higher employment.
7. DYNAMIC STOCHASTIC GENERAL EQUILIBRIUM (DSGE) MODEL
– The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is using Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model to provide a tentative and proximate assessment of the likely impact of Covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown on the Indian economy.
– The DSGE modelling is a method in macroeconomics that attempts to explain economic phenomena, such as economic growth and business cycles, and the effects of economic policy, through econometric models based on applied general equilibrium theory and economic principles.
