1. Indian Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre

The Government of India has launched the Indian Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe). It is a kind of institutional and regulatory mechanism to promote private investment and innovation in the space sector. Financial provisions don’t seem to be covered under this mechanism. The IN-SPACe would have been facilitated and supported the private sector in the following ways:

– Provide technical support

– Share cash-intensive facilities

– Allow to establish temporary facilities in DOS premises

– Allow to bid for requirements coming from NSIL

– Partner in science and space exploration missions

2. The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020

The Parliament has passed the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020 with the aim of to get rid of fears of private investors of excessive regulatory interference in their business operations and attract private sector/foreign direct investment into the agriculture sector.

The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2020 gets rid of commodities such as cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onion and potatoes from the list of essential commodities.

3. ABHYAS – High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT)

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successful flighted the air vehicle ABHYAS-High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) from the Interim Test Range, Balasore in Odisha. During the trials, two demonstrator vehicles were successfully test flown.

Abhyas is designed & developed by Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) of DRDO. The air vehicle is launched by using twin under-slung booster. It is powered by a small gas turbine engine and has a MEMS-based Inertial Navigation System (INS) for navigation along with the Flight Control Computer (FCC) for guidance and control. The vehicle is programmed for fully autonomous flight. The check out of air vehicle is done using laptop-based Ground Control Station (GCS).

The vehicle is used as a target for evaluation of several missile systems.

4. Nrityanjali

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has started an online film festival on Indian Classical Dance and Maestros Nrityanjali that will be held from 23rd to 25th September, 2020.

The first part of ‘Nrityanjali’ will showcase 10 films on the life and works of India’s leading classical dancers. The festival will be streamed on the Films Division website.

Indian Classical Dance is an umbrella under which various performing arts whose theory and practice can be traced to the Sanskrit text, Natya-Shastra, the foundational treatise by Bharata Muni. Prominent traditional dance forms like Bharat Natyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Kathakali, Sattriya, Manipuri and Mohini Aattam, include music and recitation in the local language or Sanskrit, and that they represent a unity of core ideas in an exceedingly diversity of styles, costumes and expression.

5. Medical Devices Park in Kerala

The Government of India has announced to build the first medical device parks in Kerala. It is a joint initiative of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST), an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (KSIDC).

The objective behind the Park to focus on the high-risk medical device sector to provide a full range of services for the medical devices industry like R&D support, testing, and evaluation.

This medical device park will stand out with its emphasis on the high-risk medical device sector involving medical implants and extracorporeal devices, in which SCTIMST scores with its knowledge.

6. Make-In-India’ Program for Weavers

The Government of India has announced Make-In-India’ Program for Weavers. As the handloom weaving/production is inherently an integral part of Make-in-India programme.

All kept in mind, the Government of India has announced a special economic package viz. Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan for boosting the economy of the country and making India self-reliant.

These relief and credit support measures have been announced for various sectors including MSMEs. The weavers & artisans/karigars can avail the benefits of these relief and credit support measures to revive their businesses.

The handloom weavers and artisans across the country are to be supported by the government to enable the wider market for handloom heavers/artisans/producers, steps have been taken to on-board weavers/artisans on Government e-Marketplace (GeM) to enable them to sell their products directly to various Government Departments and organisations.
