1. 147th session of the WHO Executive Board
– Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare digitally chaired the 147th session of WHO Executive Board, through Video Conference.
– According to him “we must engender in our health workforces a desire to make a real difference in the post-COVID world.” Further, he stated that “we need to make difficult choices and drive some radical changes within.”

2. Nitish Kumar
– The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has congratulated Shri Nitish Kumar on taking oath as Chief Minister of Bihar.
– Prime Minister said, “Congratulations to Nitish Kumar Ji on taking oath as Bihar’s CM. I also congratulate all those who took oath as Ministers in the Bihar Government. The NDA family will work together for the progress of Bihar. I assure all possible support from the Centre for the welfare of Bihar.”

3. TRIFED expands
– TRIFED expands Tribes India product range.
– Tribes India has taken up a new initiative to include more new products, this time those produced by the inmates of Central Jail of Jagdalpur among others.
– Pravir Krishna, Managing Director, TRIFED said, “Tribes India is continuing in its mission to transform tribal lives and improve their livelihoods. Our association with the Central Jail in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh is yet another initiative to provide the tribals a bigger market for their handicrafts and produce and help them become self-reliant and build an Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
– Among the products launched include beautifully crafted moorthis and some Ketki baskets from the tribal inmates of Jagdalpur Jail in Chhattisgarh. These attractive moorthis of Ganesha, Lakshmi, Durga will not only make for gifting items but will also help make the tribal jail inmates self-reliant.
– It has been decided that Trifed will now partner with the Central Jail of Jagdalpur so that the sourcing of the handicrafts from the jail inmates can become a regular process, and Tribes India can help take these attractive handiwork to the rest of the world.

4. DIPAM signs an agreement
– Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) has signed an agreement with World Bank on 16 Nov 2020.
– Under the agreement, the World Bank is to provide advisory services to DIPAM for asset monetization.
– DIPAM is mandated with facilitating monetization of non-core assets of government CPSEs under strategic disinvestment or closure and enemy property of the value of INR 100 crores and above.
– DIPAM has a framework for monetizing non-core assets.
– The World Bank advisory project, approved by the Finance Minister, is aimed at analyzing public asset monetization in India and benchmarking its institutional and business models against international best practices as well as supporting the development of operational guidelines and capacity building for their implementation.

5. Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal
– Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the demise of Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal.
– In a tweet, Narendra Modi said “Saddened by the demise of Rajasthan Cabinet Minister, Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal Ji. He was a veteran leader who was passionate about serving Rajasthan. In this hour of sadness, my condolences to his family and supporters”.
6. Statue of Peace
– The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, unveiled ‘Statue of Peace’ to mark the 151st Birth Anniversary celebrations of Jainacharya Shree Vijay Vallabh Surishwer Ji Maharaj.
– The Statue unveiled in the honour of the Jain acharya, has been named as ‘Statue of Peace’.
– The 151-inch tall statue has been made from Ashtadhatu i.e. 8 metals, with Copper being the major constituent, and is installed at Vijay Vallabh Sadhana Kendra, Jetpura, in Pali, Rajasthan.

7. RCEP Agreement
– The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) has come into existence recently on the sidelines of the 37th ASEAN Summit.
– The discussions laid down the path for restarting the discussion that had failed to admit India earlier and said “new” developments would be taken into consideration if India re-applies.
About RCEP
– It consists of 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members, as well as South Korea, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
– It excludes the USA, which withdrew from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in 2017.
– In 2012, negotiations over the RCEP deal began. India was also part of the negotiations but it opted out in 2019. The main concern was that the lower tariffs could hurt local producers.
