Coronavirus pandemic reaction on global art fairs

Due to the recurring rise in the number of coronavirus pandemic cases not only companies but even world art fairs too have affected. An year back if we think we can easily analyse that previoulsy  museums and galleries are considered as the networking and trade platform for art fairs and others but now due to pandemic its seems to be longer time to make a complete return to initial forget the growth as of now. In coming week in London the famous Art Fair Frieze London and Frieze Masters which is conducted annualy every year is also postponed .

 

As per the email sent to participating galleries, fair organisers it is mentioned that due to the continues problem with the logistic  and restrictions on travel such big events cannot be executed nicely so has to postponed or cancelled. Last weeks Art Basel Switzerland, too has postponed from June to September . Art Basel in Hong Kong and Art Dubai also was faced the same challenge

 A place like market where art enthusiats visit to see galleries, dealers, collectors and artists come together under one roof to exhibit and sell works. The person who have started their new art work  it will be a awesome platform  to show the world of their presence and for recent collectors it is a place to view and learn. For old masters it is an awesome platform to network and perhaps discover the new. Apart from the fairs generating money for their host cities there are  many new other reason that attracts tourists and participants globally.

After a lot of screening and check and through some galleries are selected from a number of applications. Depending upon as Frieze London and Art Basel Switzerland their status is far ahead of other so it is more competitive .Huge participating cost lies and considering all very few galleries are selected

The first “unofficial exhibition†the Salon des Refusés in Paris organized in the year 1863 is largely considered to be the first major art fair or the beginning of art fairs.

In 1913, the Armory Show in New York  including Pablo Picasso, Paul Gauguin and Marcel Duchamp work is believed to brought modern accent to art fairs in America.

 

As per the UBS and Art Basel Global Art Market Report 2020 : The art sales reached around $16.6 billion in 2019.
